People, especially families, always argue on Thanksgiving. I figured I’d give you something else to stew over your gravy.
The last time I criticized Walmart for the beneath-cost-of-living-wages they pay, I got a lot of comments criticizing me for criticizing Walmart. There was a lot of support for treating people like indentured servants while corporations rake in billions in profits. Some people blamed Obama and his economy, as though Walmart paid great salaries before his administration.
A lot of people don’t have choices when it comes to working on a holiday. I have worked retail and I used to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I never enjoyed it and neither did my family. Hell, I think a lot of places should close for Super Bowl Sunday. Funny thing: a lot of people would come into the store and complain that we’d be open on a holiday…and then they’d shop.
So while you’re out there running over fellow shoppers to save a few bucks on that flat screen TV, be nice to the people who aren’t given the same opportunity to be selfish consumers.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
