Trump Leaks

Jared’s Back Channel

cjones05302017

Most people would be extremely defensive about being accused of putting the interest of a hostile nation over the United States. They’d be very eager to prove their innocence and erase all doubt. Not these jerks connected to Trump. They’re too busy trying to kill investigations and trying to make deals for immunity.

Is there anyone in the Trump administration or campaign who hasn’t gone on a date with Russian ambassador and renowned spy Sergey Kislyak? Carter Page, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, Jeff Sessions, Donald Trump Jr., Rex Tillerson, Wilbur Ross, J.D. Gordon, Michael Caputo, Rick Gates, Michael Cohen, George Papadopoulos, Erik Prince, and even son-in-law Jared Kushner all have ties to Russia. If you were to count all the people from Team Trump connected to Russia, you’ll need at least three hands.

The latest disturbing revelation came out Friday afternoon when The Washington Post reported that Kushner told Kislyak that the Trump transition team wanted a secret backdoor channel to communicate with the Kremlin. If this is true then nepotism isn’t Trump and Jared’s most flagrant offenses. It’s spying and treason.

The idea of a secret channel is so the U.S. government can’t track the communications. Trump has put a lot of faith into his son-in-law, appointing him as senior adviser and heading up his efforts to bring peace to the Middle East. Jared, who is only 36, has never worked in government and doesn’t have any experience in diplomacy and much has been made of his lack of experience. There’s no better example if the accusations are true that he wanted a secret network with Russia, as the U.S. can track those things. They’d probably also notice Jared going in and out of the Russian embassy. How many times can you use the excuse that you were only there to use the restroom (one Trump ally visited Wikileaks’ founder Julian Assange in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for 40 minutes and later said he couldn’t remember why he was there)?

Apparently, the idea is so crazy, as in stupid, that even Kislyak was dismayed by the idea. The government didn’t listen in on the conversation between Kushner and the ambassador, but they heard the ambassador’s report back to Moscow. The Post reports that Jared wanted to use Russia’s facilities and encryption techniques for the clandestine chit-chats. Such a thing wouldn’t be a high risk just for the Trump Team, but also for Russia. Doing so would require Moscow to expose its most sophisticated communications capabilities — which are likely housed in highly secure locations at diplomatic compounds — to an American. They wouldn’t want to do that even with treasonous Americans.

To be a senior adviser, Kushner had to receive a security clearance. He forgot to include his meetings with Russians on his application, which would normally get your clearance revoked.

Malcolm Nance is a retired United States Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer in naval cryptology, author, scholar, and an expert on terrorism and intelligence. He summed it up best in a not-so-subtle manner Friday night to MSNBC’s Chris Hayes.

Nance said “had any individual other than these individuals who worked immediately for President Trump, performed these actions at any time in the SF-86 security clearance process, they would have immediately had their clearances pulled. They would have had their jobs terminated. Some of these contacts are so suspicious that they would have warranted their own counterintelligence investigation. This nation is in a counterintelligence investigation. They are in a spy hunt over at the FBI, and now we have this story—should it prove true—of an American citizen who is the senior adviser to the president of the United States, attempting to establish what we call in the intelligence community ‘covert communications’ with a hostile nation’s potential intelligence agency or senior leadership. That brings you — that crosses the line to the espionage act of 1917. This cannot be explained. Put aside the other 18 contacts with Moscow. This one incident requires Jared Kushner and all of his immediate staff to have their clearances pulled right now and to have the FBI descend on there and to determine whether this is hostile intelligence in the White House one step from the president.”

He’s right. Not only should Jared lose his clearance, he should be fired. He’s actually done worse than Michael Flynn, who was fired…eventually. Daddy-in-law can always give him a pardon later.

In fact, I think I’ll start a pool of how many pardons Trump will eventually dish out to members of his administration.

Getting The Memo

cjones05212017

Yesterday I was looking forward to covering a subject other than Donald Trump. I had the topic picked. I came up with an idea I liked. All was going to be swell. Then 5:00 PM came around and like the day before, it brought a new scandal. A really big one. Mondays was really big but Tuesdays may have topped it.

U.S. Senator Susan Collins from Maine asked on Monday “Can we have a crisis-free day?” I’m feeling ya’ Senator, but no. No we can’t. Ed Rogers wrote for The Washington Post that with Trump leaving the country for eight days that will lessen the odds of a daily crisis. I don’t share their optimism. Trump is visiting Arab heads of state, going straight to Israel, and then heading to the Vatican. The potential for him pulling stupid out of the hat runs very high. That 300-lb. fat guy is going to walk the tight rope between Jews and Palestinians in Jerusalem. I have faith something’s going “splat!”

If you work in an office then at some point you’ve been asked if you’ve seen a memo. If not, just watch Office Space. Even if you had seen the memo but you blew something off, you may fall back on the excuse and lie and say you haven’t gotten that memo yet. Right now Republicans and anyone else who supports Donald Trump needs to get the memo.

This memo doesn’t contain any new news. It informs you that Donald Trump lies. Donald Trump is a narcissist. He’s an idiot. He’s corrupt. He’s unqualified for the presidency and he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Donald Trump will throw you under the bus and destroy your reputation, even if it’s just to save him a few hours on cable news. If you continue to support Trump, your credibility will be shot and you’ll only be as reliable as Kellyanne Conway. You better get used to people rolling their eyes at you.

Now Republicans have to make a choice. Do they continue to support Donald Trump out of fear from his supporters, or do they get a spine and put country over party? You know? Do their jobs.

On Tuesday afternoon The New York Times reported that James Comey wrote a memo after one of his meetings with Trump. In this memo the former FBI director claims that Trump asked him to kill the agency’s investigation into Michael Flynn. Presidents aren’t supposed to do that. Even Donald Trump.

This came a day after The Washington Post reported that Trump revealed classified information to the Russians. The Times and Post have been very competitive with their investigative journalism since Trump came into office. These two newspapers are doing the strongest journalism in the nation at this time and it’s paying off as both their circulations are increasing. I have a digital subscription to both and I’m proud to support real journalism. Your crazy uncle refers to it as “fake news.” The fact that I have subscriptions and they’re the go-to sources for information is why you see links to them so often here.

The Comey memo is bad news for Trump and it might be the strongest hit to his administration yet. He didn’t even send a flunky out to ruin their reputation by debunking it. They only sent a statement and by this point, a White House denial has about as much currency as Confederate money.

Trump was warned about Michael Flynn by acting-Attorney General Sally Yates. Trump fired Yates. Eighteen days after being warned, he fires Flynn. The day after he fires Flynn he has Comey in the Oval Office.

During the meeting Trump told everyone else in the office to leave the room, including Vice President Mike Pence and Attorney General Jeff Sessions. He asked Comey for his loyalty, as though he’s a tin-pot dictator and the United States isn’t a democracy. He then complained to Comey about leaks, which have been coming from the White House, and asked about jailing reporters who publish leaked information. So much for that Constitution thing. He then said to Comey “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” Trump wanted Comey to drop the FBI’s investigation and let it go.

Comey did not let it go. He ramped up the investigation by asking for more funds. The day after that he was fired by Trump. His spokespeople said the investigation did not weigh into the decision to fire Comey. Trump threw them under the bus a day later by telling Lester Holt that the investigation was on his mind when he fired Comey.

This is bad for Trump. Even Jason Chaffetz, the Republican who loves Benghazi hearings, wants to see the memo. Chaffetz chairs the House Oversight Committee. There will be subpoenas.

Even a few Republicans are talking impeachment. It may be too soon for that as there’s very fine parsing over defining obstruction of justice. But this trail leads to Trump firing people, stating he wanted the investigation to end, and then asking Comey to drop it, and then firing Comey.  This trail may wind all the way to a trial in the United States Senate.

Trump has to hope for two things. That Republicans will continue to live in fear of him and that people believe his word over Comey’s. Ha!

There’s been a lot of criticism of James Comey but none of that has been about his honesty. Trump’s honesty is not questioned. He would have to have some first. Trump is a pathological liar. In Trump’s first 100 days he told 492 false or misleading claims. In other words, lies. He employs people to lie. Trump is less honest than a professional baseball player on steroids.

Trump lies. He’s dishonest. He’s corrupt. He’s a buffoonish-man-baby. His mouth is taking him down and everyone who continues to support him and their reputations along with it.

Did you not get that memo?

Putin’s Puppet

cjones12122016

The people who spent eight years screaming the loudest about being patriots and shouting “I want my country back” are the first to turn a blind eye and allow a foreign nation to commit terrorism on us and manipulate our democratic system. That’s the equivalent of treason.

The CIA has assessed that Russia wasn’t just trying to destroy confidence in our electoral system, they were trying to help elect Donald Trump. They’re very confident about this.

The White House wanted a unified bipartisan front to combat this and they went to Congressional leaders. The Republicans who spent eight years saying no to Obama this time said “eh.” Mitch McConnell, the GOP’s leader in the Senate chose to hide in his turtle shell and ignore the threat and today his wife is nominated to work in the Trump administration. That’s a sweet payoff.

Trump’s transition team dismissed the news with the statement “These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. The election ended a long time ago in one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history. It’s now time to move on and ‘Make America Great Again.” Basically “blah blah blah.”

This isn’t Iraq or a search of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. This can’t be shrugged off because of a past mistake. If that’s how we’re going to treat any analysis by the CIA then what’s the point of having a CIA? The other B.S. in the statement is that Trump did not win in one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history and has lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by more than two million. The last thing about this is their willingness to dismiss and ignore a threat to our nation by a foreign power.

Trump is about to swear an oath to protect this nation from all threats foreign and domestic. As president-elect he’s showing us he doesn’t intend to take that oath seriously, if he even understands it.

Trump still refuses to believe Russia was behind the hacking into the Democrat’s campaign. He says it could have been China or some guy in New Jersey. I’m not sure how capable Chris Christie is with computers. He and his supporters refuse to believe Russians were helping him win the election but they’ll buy a story that Hillary Clinton is selling child sex slaves out of a pizza parlor.

Even if it’s not Russia behind the attacks Trump and his flying monkeys are ignoring one basic fact. Nobody was hacking into Trump’s campaign and releasing the data. Someone was breaking the law, breaking the rules, not playing fair, to help Donald Trump win the White House. They’re fine with that.

Donald Trump, Republicans, and their voters didn’t just allow our democracy to be manipulated by a foreign power with evil intentions. They allowed themselves to be compromised. They’d sell their nation out for a cheap win.  That’s exactly what they did.

That’s not patriotism. It’s called treason. It’s the real scandal that’s “worse than Watergate.”

Hypocritical Surrogacy

cjones10142016

Whoever did not see this coming needs to go sit in the corner and remain silent until Thanksgiving. Election 2016 just went scorched Earth.

Reports came out last night of four women accusing Donald Trump of forcibly groping and kissing them. If you’re attempting to eat a meal you might want to stop reading at this point until you finish.

The New York Times reported an allegation of Trump groping a woman on a flight and trying to put his hand up her skirt in the first class section. First class allows you a hot towel, not the right to be a Gropey McGroperson. another woman told The Times that Trump forcibly kissed her in an elevator. I knew that Aerosmith song would be nothing but trouble.

The Palm Beach Post was told by another woman that Trump grabbed her rear end at his Mar-A-Lago resort. I don’t know if Trump likes the small butts or the big butts, but he can tell a lie. People Magazine reported that Trump shoved his tongue down a reporter’s throat at a photo shoot after his wife left the room. He later told the woman that they would be having an affair.

None of these accusations were made anonymously.

It doesn’t end there. CBS News revealed footage filmed for “Entertainment Tonight” in which Trump is heard commenting about a young girl, “I’m going to be dating her in ten years.” Rolling Stone quoted Miss Washington 2013 saying “He probably doesn’t want me telling the story about that time he continually grabbed my ass and invited me to his hotel room.”

Miss Arizona 2001 told CBS 2 Los Angeles that Trump would waltz into the pageant’s dressing rooms while the contestants were changing. Buzzfeed reported that four women in the 1997 Miss Teen USA beauty pageant said Trump walked into their dressing room while they were changing. Some were as young as 15.

And last but not least, there’s reports of inappropriate contact at the Westminster Dog Show with a Schnauzer. OK, I made that last one up. It was a poodle.

Trump is upset. He’s denying each of these accusations. The problem is, these are exactly the type of incidents Trump himself bragged about doing. Who are we going to believe? Donald Trump or Donald Trump?

In the leaked tape from last Friday he was heard boasting that he can grab and kiss women because he’s a star. In a Howard Stern interview years ago he was bragging about walking into dressing rooms at his pageants to ogle naked girls and how he was allowed because he owned the contests. Not only is it disgusting he’s admitting he’s a pervert on the level of a peeping tom sitting in a tree outside a woman’s window (at the very least), but he’s proud of it and Howard Stern and Robin Quivers were enabling him. Old perverts are hilarious.

Most of these women were silent until Trump stated at the debate that he never engaged in the behavior he bragged about engaging in. It was just “locker room” talk. His denial was just the trigger needed to anger women enough to expose Trump. I’m going to say again, “locker room” talk is usually about sex….not sexual assault. Republicans should learn the difference.

Trump and his supporters are upset. They’ve accused these women of being paid by the Clinton campaign and how it’s unfair to expose charges they can’t prove. Never mind the fact that Trump won’t shut up about Bill Clinton and even flew in his accusers to sit at the front row at the last debate.

Trump is threatening to sue The New York Times over the story and even yelled at the reporter over the phone “you’re a disgusting human being.”

It takes one to know one.
