Fox News Lies

Right-wing cartoonist Lisa Benson created a cartoon that’s published today on GoComics whining that “conservative news” is being silenced by the “speech police.” The first thing I thought when I saw it was, “Ooh, bad timing.”

I don’t know what Lisa’s talking about. MAGAts been making false claims about being persecuted by big tech and social media, but that’s not “news.” And another thing, news should be news, not conservative news and not liberal news. Yes, there will always be biases but no network should specifically target one demographic. The problem for right-wingers is that facts have a liberal bias. And taking in yesterday’s NEWS about Dominion suing Fox News is why I think Lisa’s cartoon has horrible timing. It doesn’t reflect reality but then again, that’s the entire basis of the Dominion lawsuit.

Dominion is making a case that Fox News knows they don’t reflect reality. I’ve been making an argument that MAGAt cartoonists, and the cartoonist who works for Sputnik, don’t reflect reality.

Dominion Voting Systems is suing Fox News for spreading lies about their products. Fox News aired claims by Trump and his lawyerly goons, Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani that Dominion was corrupt and switched votes from Trump to Joe Biden, thus stealing the election from Trump for Biden. The lies are preposterous as there were claims of meddling by George Soros, Italian satellites, and Hugo Chavez’s ghost. They’ve also pushed debunked lies about “illegal” immigrants and dead people voting.

The fact is, the only people who tried to steal an election was Trump and his goons. Trump called Georgia’s Secretary of State and literally told the guy to find him “11,780 votes.”

Fox News didn’t just report on the lies, they pushed the lies. And the worst part is, they knew they were lying.

A filing in a Delaware state court by Dominion reveals emails and texts that top executives and hosts didn’t believe Trump’s election lies or the multiple conspiracy theories he and his goons spread.

Tucker Carlson texted Laura Ingraham, “Sidney Powell is lying by the way. I caught her. It’s insane.”
Ingraham replied, “Sidney is a complete nut. No one will work with her. Ditto with Rudy.” Yet, they continued to give air time to those “complete nuts.”

Testimony claims that Carlson confronted Sidney Powell and said, “You keep telling our viewers that millions of votes were changed by the software. I hope you will prove that very soon. You’ve convinced them that Trump will win. If you don’t have conclusive evidence of fraud at that scale, it’s a cruel and reckless thing to keep saying.”

It was a cruel and reckless thing to keep saying, yet he kept giving her air time to say it.

The filings show that Carlson and Sean Hannity pressured network leaders to fire Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich after she tweeted a fact-check of a Trump tweet promoting lies about Dominion Voting Systems.

Tucker told Sean, “Please get her fired. Seriously….What the fuck? I’m actually shocked…It needs to stop immediately, like tonight. It’s measurably hurting the company. The stock price is down. Not a joke.”
Sean replied, “I’m 3 strikes. Wallace shit debate[.] Election night a disaster[.] Now this BS? Nope. Not gonna fly. Did I mention Cavuto?”

After their complaints, she deleted her tweet. These dicks were trying to get a woman fired for fact-checking and telling the truth. Fox News, where truth and fact-checkers are fired.

It wasn’t just Tucker, Sean, and Laura.

After White House correspondent Kristin Fisher fact-checked claims that Powell and Giuliani made at a Nov. 19, 2020, press conference, Washington Bureau Chief Bryan Boughton told Fisher that she needed to do a better job of “respecting our audience.” She was told that she needed to respect that Fox News’ audience is made up of conspiracy-loving MAGAt fucknuts who can’t handle the truth. And if you tell them the truth, they’ll change the channel.

If Fox News won’t lie to their MAGAt viewers, they’ll change the channel to a station that will, which is what they did by changing over to Newsmax, which is a little poodle of a conspiracy network nipping at Fox News’ heels.

Tucker texted a producer, “Do the executives understand how much credibility and trust we’ve lost with our audience? We’re playing with fire, for real….an alternative like Newsmax could be devastating to us.” Tucker believes you lose trust by being trustworthy.

Lauren Petterson, the president of Fox Business Network, wrote to other company execs, of Newsmax, “They definitely have a strategy across all shows to try to target and steal our viewers.”

Jay Wallace, the president of Fox News Channel, wrote to fellow execs, “The Newsmax surge is a bit troubling—truly is an alternative universe when you watch, but it can’t be ignored.” Dominion Voting Systems didn’t ignore Newsmax and they’re suing them too.

Between the election and the January 6 insurrection, Fox News’ viewers left and their ratings fell to third place behind MSNBC and CNN. Fox News was the first network to call Arizona for Joe Biden on election night, and that was the moment goons, fucknuts, and yee-haw fuckers started changing the channel over to Newsmax.

It went all the way to the top. Rupert Murdoch knew Trump’s lawyers were lying and told Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott: “Terrible stuff damaging everybody, I fear.”

On Jan. 5, 2021, a day before the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump’s white nationalist MAGA terrorists, Murdoch wrote to Scott saying, “It’s been suggested our prime time three should independently or together say something like ‘the election is over and Joe Biden won.'” Murdoch told Scott that such a statement “would go a long way to stop the Trump myth that the election (was) stolen.”  Such a statement never came which means Fox News may have been able to prevent the attack on the Capitol. It means Fox News was culpable in the attack.

Fox News put the safety of this nation at risk in favor of ratings and profit. They knew they were lying.

Murdoch told Fox News leadership that Giuliani was to be taken “with a very large grain of salt,” and bemoaned the fact Rudy was advising Trump in the post-election period yet, they still put him on the air and helped him push the Big Lie.

Fox News claims that Dominion “cherry-picked” statements for its case, but can’t argue that they didn’t know Trump, Rudy, and Sidney were lying. Fox News can’t claim they actually believed Donald Trump won or that the election was stolen. And the thing is, they’re still pushing these lies.

Dominion is seeking $1.6 billion from Fox News. Quite frankly, I think we should all sue Fox News for the damage they inflicted on this nation.

Fox News is NOT a news source. They’re propaganda which this filing by Dominion proves. They state behind closed doors that their audience can’t handle the truth and that they need to choose lies and conspiracy theories over facts to increase ratings.

The next time you hear a MAGAt goon brag about how Fox News is the ratings leader in news, and that CNN and MSNBC lag far behind, point out that Fox News isn’t a news channel. I don’t know if actual news channels can ever maintain higher ratings than Fox News because there seems to be a larger market for lies and bullshit than facts. Facts can be uncomfortable and Fox News has to “respect their audience.”

Fox News argues that this nation isn’t racist, but the fact they’re the ratings leader argues that is is.

Disclaimer note: I have argued with cartoonist Ted Rall in the past that every time he does a cartoon about Russia or Ukraine, he needs to issue a disclaimer that he works for Russia, as he draws cartoons for Sputnik, a Russian-owned state propaganda outlet. He argues back that I need to place a disclaimer that I work for CNN, as though his fascist-owned propaganda outlet is equivalent to a legitimate news outlet. But today I decided that since I’m commenting on a CNN issue and one of their competitors, that I should add the disclaimer. And I’ll continue to add a disclaimer in the future when I draw cartoons about CNN or its competitors. It’s what a responsible journalist should do, which Ted Rall is NOT.

Music note: I listened to The Rolling Stones and The Who.

Unreasonable, Deranged Lunatic

Cjones03272021

Quickly after the election, which Donald Trump LOST, attorney Sidney Powell joined Donald Trump’s legal team that was trying to steal the election away from Joe Biden. Sidney came with the impeccable credentials of being Michael Flynn’s lawyer where part of her legal defense was that he was framed by a “deep state plot.” She sent a letter to then-Attorney General William Barr asking him to investigate the investigation, and he did. Then the Justice Department attempted to drop the prosecution. Eventually, Trump pardoned Flynn…before he LOST the election to President Joe Biden.

This brilliant legal strategy of Qanon conspiracy theories landed her a position on Trump’s legal team where she argued Trump actually won the election he LOST and it was stolen in a plot conducted by communists, globalists, George Soros, The Clintons, the deceased Hugo Chavez, the CIA, hundreds of Democrats and even Republicans like Georgia governor Brian Kemp. Somehow, the Mickey Mouse Club escaped an accusation.

Sidney Powell conducted press conference after press conference, including the infamous one next to a porn shop with Rudy Giuliani when his head started dripping axle grease or some shit. Sidney also lost lawsuits in multiple states. Her conspiracy theories got so crazy, the Trump legal team officially dropped her and said she was acting “independently,” yet she continued to file lawsuits. While she wasn’t officially on the legal team anymore, she was still meeting with Donald Trump in the Oval Office where she suggested such brilliant tactics as declaring martial law to overturn the election he LOST .

Sidney promised she would reveal a “Kraken” of a plot to steal the election from Donald Trump which she called, “The greatest crime of the century if not the life of the world.” According to Sidney Powell, stealing the election from Donald Trump was worst than the Holocaust, the Black Plaque, the Inquisition, the coronavirus pandemic, Japanese internment, 9/11, New Coke, the Guns and Roses album “Chinese Democracy,” the CATS! movie, the Crocs fad, the KFC Double-Down chicken sandwich, and Ted Cruz’s face.

Twitter banned Powell for pushing Qanon conspiracy theories. Michigan and the city of Detroit (in case you’re a Republican, is a city in Michigan) filed separate motions in federal court to sanction Powell for attempting to overturn the election Donald Trump LOST .

During Sidney’s charade of a stolen election that Donald Trump actually LOST, she slandered Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic. Both companies demanded she retract her statements. Fox News and Newsmax, two networks that had promoted the bullshit campaign, started walking back the conspiracy theories.

Dominion and Smartmatic are now both suing Sidney Powell for defamation. Dominion is seeking $1.3 billion. Smartmatic is suing Powell, Rudy Giuliani, Fox News, Newsmax, and several idiot hosts from Fox for $2.7 billion. The companies may not get as much as they’re seeking, but they’ll probably win their lawsuits and in the process, Sidney Powell is likely to lose her license to practice law. I think she found her Kraken.

Think of it. If she’s too deranged to be on Twitter, then what the hell is she doing practicing law?

Now, Sidney’s lawyers, who I hope are better than she is, are arguing in court that no “reasonable” person could believe Sidney’s bullshit.

They filed a motion arguing, “No reasonable person would conclude that the statements by Powell about the 2020 election were truly statements of fact.” They continued this ridiculous argument with, “It was clear to reasonable persons that Powell’s claims were her opinions and legal theories.”

They’re arguing she should not be responsible for the shit that comes out of her mouth. You’re representing a lawyer, not a three-year-old or a drunk at closing time. Wait. Was she drunk?

Sidney’s lawyers argued Dominion could not prove Powell took action with “actual malice”, because “she believed the allegations then and she believes them now.”

So, no “reasonable” person could believe Sidney’s claims about the election being stolen by Jews, commies, Clintons, and Chavez were facts, but they were her legal opinions and she truly believed in them. I think her lawyers argued she’s not a reasonable person.

They’re also arguing she based her “legal opinions” on bullshit that no reasonable person could believe. Doesn’t that mean she should not be practicing law? Shouldn’t your legal opinion be something that reasonable people could believe? You didn’t see OJ’s lawyers argue Nicole was murdered by Hugo Chavez.

I agree with her lawyers. No reasonable person could believe anything Powell said about the election being stolen. Only fucking deranged lunatics would ever believe any of the debunked bullshit Sidney said. But, some lunatics did believe her bullshit. In fact, a lot of lunatics bought into her scam.

One of those lunatics was the president (sic) of the United States of America who then directed thousands of other lunatics to storm the Capitol and attempt a bloody coup to overturn an election he LOST. People died because of this lie.

Today, Donald Trump is still pushing this lie Sidney helped spread. More than half of all Republicans still believe this lie. According to Sidney Powell’s legal team, the Republican Party consists of “unreasonable” people. Shit, we already knew that. I don’t think reasonable people could vote for Donald Trump. Fortunately for us, reasonable people outnumbered Republicans because Donald Trump LOST the election.

Donald Trump used Sidney’s lies to destroy our democracy and Constitution. I think Dominion and Smartmatic might have a case. It’s not their fault Donald Trump LOST the election.

Runny Drippy Lawsuits

cjones02102021

Rudy Giuliani has an afternoon show on New York’s Talk Radio WABC. Rudy is upset because he just discovered the station is running a disclaimer before his show saying, “Warning: The program you are about to hear is chock full of bullshit, a nonsensical litany of lies, disproven conspiracy theories, and the kind of crazy old man talk that would make you assume it’s being broadcast from a padded cell in a mental institution.”

It doesn’t say that, but it should. What it does say is, “Girl, we are not responsible for the bullshit you’re to hear so don’t sue us…sue Rudy.” OK, it doesn’t say that either…but it should.

Seriously this time, what it truly says is, and I’m being honest…”The farts you’re about to hear do not represent WABC or its affiliates.” I’m sorry.

What it does say is, ” the views, assumptions and opinions expressed by Mr Giuliani and his guests are strictly their own and do not necessarily represent that of the station or its advertisers.” I think they should use the first version I wrote.

And then the show starts with, “Coming live from the parking lot of the Four Seasons Total Landscaping and next to Dildo-a-Rama, It’s the Rudy Giuliani Show!”

Rudy can get upset all he wants, and he said, “I mean, we’re in America, we’re not in East Germany.” because back when there was an East German puppet state of the Soviet Union, farty former mayors had radio talk shows.

Rudy spent considerable time on the show talking about the disclaimer he just learned about. The station slapped it on there without telling him which is also hilarious. His very first caller asked, if he feels “guilty about spreading a lot of unproven conspiracy theories to folks who may not have the ability or the critical thinking skills to look through” his bullshit. Yes, Rudy’s listeners, the Trump cult, don’t have critical thinking skills. But then again, neither does Rudy.

The station is correct to slap a disclaimer on his show. If they were really smart, they’d cancel his like Fox News canceled Lou Dobbs. Smartmatic, a company that created software for Dominion, the company that makes voting machines, named Rudy as part of its $2.7 billion libel lawsuit against Fox News. He’s also being sued by Dominion, along with fellow bullshitter Sidney Powell, for $1.3 billion.

The Smartmatic suit states, “Mr. Giuliani and Ms. Powell needed a platform to use to spread their story. They found a willing partner in Fox News.” Rudy replied, “The Smartmatic lawsuit presents another golden opportunity for discovery. I look forward to litigating with them.”

Unfortunately for Rudy, Sidney, and Fox News, everything they said is on tape because, you know, it was on TV. Rudy has gone on TV before and denied saying something he just said. Forget Donald Trump testifying in his own defense, Rudy’s lawyers better lock him in basement. I mean, the guy started his radio show by pointing out that he can’t be trusted for honesty or facts.

The opening of the Smartmatic lawsuit has been called the greatest opening line in the history of lawsuits. It reads, “The Earth is round. Two plus two equals four. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the 2020 election for President and Vice President of the United States. The election was not stolen, rigged, or fixed. These are facts.”

They went on to say, “Without any true villain, Defendants invented one. In their story, Smartmatic was a Venezuelan company under the control of corrupt dictators from socialist countries.” How are Rudy, Sidney, and Fox going to defend against that? It was just entertainment? Rudy can’t fart his way out of this one. And just like his hair dye, Rudy has left a trail for the plaintiffs to follow.

More lawsuits are coming. The big question is, will they go after Donald Trump for the big lie?

Also, will Just For Men sue a cartoonist?

Moo Libel

cjones12272020

You would think any half-ass lawyer would know they can’t run around saying lies and unprovable things about people and corporations. That’s libelous. You can get sued for that. When it comes to Trump lawyers Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani, I’d rather have the cow lawyer. Plus, the cow farts probably aren’t as bad as Rudy’s.

As part of the Trump team’s conspiracy theory in their effort to stage a coup, Sidney Powell has charged that Dominion Voting System’s machines were created by the deceased Hugo Chavez, were sent here by communists in Venezuela to overturn the election, and have links to the Clinton Foundation and George Soros. The team has spread lies that the machines changed votes from Trump to Biden and in some cases, dumped votes for Trump, while somehow leaving the other Republicans on the same ballots untouched. Anybody believing this shit is a little touched.

The Trump campaign has made these claims, often supported by the president (sic) of the United States of America. Do you know what happens when Donald Trump spreads bullshit? His people believe it. There doesn’t have to be any proof or evidence.

Now, lawyers who specialize in defamation cases have sent letters to Trump’s attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Lin Wood and White House counsel Pat Cipollone warning them of “imminent” legal action on behalf of Dominion Voting Systems. They’re demanding the campaign to retain all records of communications between Trump and any White House employee with Rudy Giuliani, Powell, Ellis, and Wood.

This is where it gets good. Others receiving warning letters include Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, Rush Limbaugh, Greg Kelly (a Newsmax anchor), Fox News, Newsmax, One America News Network (OANN) and Epoch Times.

Two ironic things about Epoch Times: It’s Chinese and the MAGAt belief system is currently trying to tie Joe Biden with China, and…it’s a newspaper. MAGAts don’t read newspapers.

The lawyers demanded they “cease and desist making defamatory claims against Dominion,” saying they had “featured and continue to feature the proponents of this misinformation campaign against” the company.

Another voting machine company, Smartmatic, has sent letters to Fox News, OAN, and Newsmax demanding they stop “publishing false and defamatory statements.”

Dominion CEO John Poulos said the company would be taking legal action against several people “promoting lies and amplifying those lies” on various media platforms since Election Day. When asked if the lawsuits will include Donald Trump, he said, “We will not be overlooking anybody.”

Nine nine days after Election Day, Trump tweeted a claim that “DOMINION DELETED 2.7 MILLION TRUMP VOTES NATIONWIDE.”

On Dominion’s website, they state, “Malicious and misleading false claims about Dominion have resulted in dangerous levels of threats and harassment against the company and its employees, as well as election officials.”

Last Tuesday in Denver, Dominion’s security director, Eric Coomer, filed a defamation lawsuit against the Trump campaign, Giuliani, Powell, Newsmax, OANN, OANN reporter Chanel Rion, blogger Michelle Malkin and others. Coomer’s suit says he has become the target of death threats because of the defendants’ false claims made about Dominion’s machines. Currently, Coomer is in hiding.

Remember how Republicans and MAGAts all chortled about the Kentucky kid suing media outlets after his fray with the tom-tom beating Native American in Washington? They championed that little MAGAt’s lawsuit. He even got a speaking slot at the Republican National Convention. They were all supportive of his lawsuits. How dare the media smear him with their reporting. Now, it’s coming back on them in a much bigger way.

Donald Trump has called for the laws allowing a free press to write “anything they want” to be eliminated so he and others can sue news outlets for reporting facts they don’t like. So isn’t it ironic that as soon as he leaves office, one of the multiple lawsuits he faces is for defamation? I love it.

I hope Dominion lawyers sue each and every person they sent letters to. I hope Coomer wins each of his lawsuits. These liars, destroying reputations, our nation, and championing a coup attempt, need to be taken downtown in legal terms. They need to pay for their bullshit. I predict a lot of settlements. I predict Donald Trump, who claims he never settles but always settles, settles.

I also wish that lawsuits and charges will be filed against Donald Trump, federally and on the state level, within five minutes of Joe Biden taking his oath of office at noon on January 20, 2021. Would that just be the best kick in the nuts ever?

That’s all I want for Christmas…that and Chinese food.
