Anti-Greta

Climate activist Greta Thunberg from Sweden is only 17 years old. That has not stopped conservatives from attacking her. They are attacking and bullying a child for saying something they don’t want to hear. Even the president (sic) of the United States has engaged in bullying her. She’s a child. Now get this: An energy company distributed a sexually graphic image of Greta.

X Site Energy Services from Alberta, Canada initially claimed they were not responsible for the image of a child being sexually attacked. But after it was reported that an employee of the company was handing out the image on stickers, they’ve accepted full responsibility and have apologized. In a statement, the company says, “Oh my God! Who knew that depicting a child being sexually assaulted could burn us? We totally lost our minds in this new era were being cruel and acting like depraved, troglodyte assholes amount to humor and is the new thing for conservatives and climate denialists. Maybe in this era of Trumpism, we got carried away. Also, sorry we lied about it too. Our bad. We’ll try to stop being dicks.”

OK. I made that up. That’s what their statement should have said. It actually said that it’s “committed to recovering and destroying the decals we distributed.” Note that “we” in there. The statement added, “Management (dicks) accepts full responsibility and effective immediately, has made organizational changes to reflect this.” Now, the company is discussing a code of conduct with its employees as it seeks to maintain a “safe and respectful workplace.”

Here’s a free tip for oil companies: If you have to educate your employees that distributing child pornography, with or without your company’s logo on it, is bad, then you’re probably fishing in the wrong talent pool.

Greta visited Alberta last year and Edmonton-based artist Aja Louden painted a mural of her on a wall…which was later defaced with a slur and a pro-oil message.

At least the right-wing, oil-company funded think tank, Heartland Institute, didn’t resort to child porn to attack Great. Nope. They went out and got their own Greta. She’s the anti-Greta.

Her name is Naomi Seibt and she’s from Germany, where people used to goose-step (this is about to come up again, so pay attention). Naomi isn’t just on the same side as the Heartland Institute. She’s being paid by them. The heavy thinkers at Heartland have always been anti-science because they’re a financial tool for fossil fuel companies. Think tanks are businesses set up where billionaires and companies hire them to write their dogma, thus giving the appearance it’s coming from elsewhere and has credibility (and nobody hires me to write anything). Heartland hired Naomi to produce YouTube videos and to be the anti-Greta. It’s not my viewpoint they market her as the anti-Greta. They literally describe her as the anti-Greta.

Naomi is 19 and she said her interest in activism began out of concern about a wave of migration into Germany in recent years (people who aren’t white and Christian). This may come as a big surprise to you but Naomi is white. Last weekend (this will be less of a surprise) she was speaking as CPAC (Conservative Political Asshole Committee) where the Heartland Institute sponsors a bunch of anti-science shit and Donald Trump speaks. At this asshole event, she praised a white nationalist (Nazi).

She praised Canadian alt-right commentator Stefan Molyneux and said his prior racist comments have been taken out of context.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate groups, says Molyneux “amplifies ‘scientific racism,’ eugenics and white supremacism,” has hundreds of thousands of YouTube followers, and “has encouraged thousands of people to adopt his belief in biological determinism, social Darwinism and non-white racial inferiority.” Basically, he’s a Nazi.

I’m kinda getting tired of all these descriptions. Alt-right, white nationalist, Trump supporter, Donald Trump…let’s just call them all Nazis.

Seibt said Molyneux is an “inspiration” for her work. When asked at the conference by a reporter if that still holds true, she said, “I’ve always been skeptical of the ideas of white nationalism, of identitarianism and white identity. However, I am an empiricist, and I could not help but notice that I could have peaceful, free, easy, civilized, and safe discussions in what is essentially an all-white country.” She may as well have started her sentence, “I don’t mean to sound like a racist but…”

She said, “I am still a fan, absolutely.”

Did the Heartland Institute hire a Nazi to be their anti-Greta? Absolutely.

I’m starting to think that Naomi’s concern for immigrants entering her nation doesn’t have anything to do with economics, the climate, or science. She describes herself as an “empiricist,” which is that you can’t have knowledge without experience. That probably means she had a run-in with a brown person that freaked her out (like one cut in line at a movie and she was all like, “Oh, my God, they’re everywhere. They probably have cousins!”). The knowledge I’ve gained from my experience (and I have a few years of that stuff on Naomi) is that nations and societies are richer and much better off with diversity of cultures. I believe in melting pots and I know it’s the greatest strength and asset of our nation.

Seriously, Heartland? You couldn’t find an anti-Greta who’s not a Nazi? Germany is a very progressive nation now and while their alt-right, anti-immigrant movement (Nazis) is loud, they’re small. Yet, somehow, you found a Nazi in present-day Germany. Now, before the CPAC thing is over, you may want to let Naomi go before she goosesteps all over the place…unless you plan to goosestep with her.

Heartland knows that to confront science, then you have to lie. You have to lie a lot. They’ve been doing it for years. In fact, it’s their business model. They’re comfortable with being liars. The question is, are you comfortable with being racist? Actually, it’s probably not your first time.

To sum up, don’t hire people who will distribute child porn with your company’s logo on it (and maybe not any child porn. A conservative might be reading and that should probably be clear). Also, pay attention, Heartland…

…DON’T HIRE NAZIS!

I Did NAZI That Spoiler Coming

It’s bad enough that the internet is full of Russian trolls and idiots spreading conspiracy theories, but there are also people not just spreading hate, but motivating terrorism.

The white nationalist terrorists in Christchurch and Poway, California were frequent visitors to the online image board 8chan where they also shared their manifestos of hate.

I always thought it was terrible that conservative propaganda sites that pretend to be news like Breitbart and the Daily Callers are magnets for racists, conspiracy theorists, and just all-around stupid right-wing idiots.

8chan started after 4chan (another racist site) started cracking down on Gamergaters and child porn distributors. The board offers encouragement and cheerleading to white terrorists and graphically lionizes those who make good on their threats. The Poway synagogue shooter claimed he had been radicalized by 8chan in just 18 months. And the most dangerous thing you’ve had to avoid over the past week has been Avengers and Game of Throne spoilers. Me too.

The last time I saw a “hot” movie and posted about it, within minutes someone posted a spoiler in the comments. So, I don’t tell people on social media when I’ve seen a recently released movie (though I did see Avengers: Endgame Sunday night) because I don’t want people using me to drop spoilers. And, some people who drop spoilers don’t even realize they’re dropping a spoiler. But, ever since I stumbled upon the Force Awakens spoiler before I saw the film, any time I even see the title of something I don’t want spoiled, I keep scrolling as fast as I can without reading the rest of the sentence.

To steal my favorite quote from the TV show Scrubs, “People are bastard covered bastards with a bastard creme filling.”

But, at some point, you gotta go see the movie because you can’t expect people to sit on it forever. If you don’t know Bruce Willis has been dead all along in Sixth Sense, then that’s your own stupid fault. But, I do feel bad for when Willis eventually dies (hopefully, a very long time from now) because when someone posts a link to his obituary, someone’s going to think it’s a spoiler.

NOT a spoiler alert: I’m going out of town Thursday so you may not get a cartoon from me this Friday. So, you’re getting two today. But, it’s like leaving two bowls of dog food for the dog (hopefully, for the dog), he’s going to eat both immediately. So come Friday, you’ll probably still be waiting for a new cartoon. I’ve spoiled you.

Nazis Yay, Gays Nay

“Woe unto you hypocrites,” Jesus said to the religious leaders of his day. In 2019, his message is for the likes of Franklin Graham, a religious right phony who sees sin in Democrats and not Republicans.

Just like Donald Trump, Franklin Graham inherited his empire from his daddy. He has since used his religious podium to endorse the 2003 invasion of Iraq, refer to Islam as “a very evil and wicked religion,” accuse President Obama of allowing the Muslim Brotherhood to become a part of the U.S. government (seriously), and in 2016, conduct a $10 million campaign that framed support for Hillary Clinton and other Democrats as anti-Christian. And then, he endorsed the porn-star presidential candidate.

Graham preaches a good game but he’s never preached against Trump being a false idol, being worshipped by his followers, or building monuments to himself. Graham has never preached about Trump cheating on his first wife, or his second, or his third. He’s never preached against Trump’s infidelities with porn stars and Playmates. He’s never preached against Trump’s attacks against women. He’s never preached against Trump lusting after his own daughter. And, Graham has never preached against Trump’s lies.

With The Washington Post now confirming that Trump has passed the 10,000 lies mark, Graham says Trump merely misspeaks and never has intentions to be dishonest.

Graham has no problems with Trump being a racist, bully, misogynist, braggart, or a guy who proudly boasts of sexually assaulting women and barging into dressing rooms to see teenage girls while they’re naked.

Graham backed Trump’s Muslim ban and says God had a hand in his election.

Graham believes Melania Trump is the “classiest First Lady in American history.” Apparently, running an anti-bullying campaign while ignoring her husband’s bullying is classy. plagiarizing her predecessor’s speeches is classy. Marrying a guy solely because he’s rich is classy. Doing nude lesbian porn must be classy as hell in Graham’s eyes.

And back to Donald, Graham has never preached against defending Nazis. And let’s get this straight right now: Donald Trump defended Nazis.

There’s this campaign that Trump was talking about the “fine people” who were merely at Charlottesville to protest the removal of Confederate statues. Yes, fine people who demanded that statues honoring slave-owning traitors to the United States must remain in place. Trump supporters tell us to look at the context of his words when he said there were “fine people on both sides.” OK. Let’s look at his words.

In defending his statement afterward, he said, “As I said on — remember, Saturday — we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence. It has no place in America.” He also called the murderer of Heather Heyer a “murderer.” Kudos, Trump. But then, he flipped it back to defending the “Blood and Soil” tiki-torch guys.

When asked about the “alt-right,” Trump deflected criticism of them and attacked the counter-protesters with, “Okay, what about the alt-left that came charging at — excuse me, what about the alt-left that came charging at the, as you say, the alt-right? Do they have any semblance of guilt?”

He continued with, “What about the fact that they came charging with clubs in their hands, swinging clubs?” Trump’s primary criticisms remained on the left when he brought up permits to protest. He said, “you had a group on the other side that came charging in, without a permit, and they were very, very violent.”

OK. So he’s defending the guys with permits. Who got that permit? Jason Kessler got that permit. Mr. Kessler is a white supremacist and a supporter of Neo-Nazis. In defending the guys with permits, Trump defended Nazis.

In defending the people who were protesting the removal of statues, Trump said there were “fine people on both sides.” Who was on the side with the statue dudes? Who was in Charlottesville that day?

Here’s a partial list. The Daily Stormer Book Club, The National Front, The Right Stuff, The National Policy Institute, the neo-Confederate League of the South, Traditionalist Worker Party (Nazis), Vanguard America, National Socialist Movement (they’re Nazis, not AOC fans), the Ku Klux Klan, the Fraternal Order of Alt-Knights, Identity Evropa (more Nazis), Rise Above Movement, the American Guard, the Detroit Right Wings (Nazis stealing their name from Detroit’s hockey team), True Cascadia, Alt-Right Montreal (Canadian Nazis), Hammer Brothers, Anti-Communist Action (more Nazis), David Duke (former Grand Wizard and Nazi lover), and Richard Spencer (Nazi). These are all hate groups. You can decide how “fine” a person is who chooses to march with these people.

Airbnb refused to rent to these people because they’re not “fine.” You can’t blame Airbnb, because they’re Nazis and they’ll steal all the white sheets and pillow cases and cut eye holes in them. But, Trump disagrees with Airbnb and thinks they’re fine people.

Personally, I’m against kicking puppies. But, if I see a bunch of Nazis with tiki torches walking down the street chanting, “Stop kicking puppies and Jews will not replace us,” I’m not going to join in. I can be against kicking puppies and still not march with Nazis. You don’t have to join Nazis to oppose statue removal. When you walk with Nazis, you may as well be a Nazi.

Donald Trump defended Nazis. Nazis! Nazis! Nazis! Deflecting for Nazis is the same as defending them. And defending Nazis is not something Franklin Graham has a problem with. But maybe, he’d hate gay Nazis.

Graham has a huge issue with gay people. He’s a champion of gay-conversion therapy, just like Mike Pence. He praised Vladimir Putin for Russia’s “gay propaganda law,” which bans anything that makes homosexuality appear acceptable. And last week, he went after South Bend, Indiana mayor and first opening gay Democratic presidential candidate for being gay and married.

Graham tweeted, “”Mayor Buttigieg says he’s a gay Christian. As a Christian I believe the Bible which defines homosexuality as sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized. The Bible says marriage is between a man & a woman—not two men, not two women.”

Actually, the Bible doesn’t say homosexuality is a sin. It talks about behavior but doesn’t reference being gay. It talks a lot about a man being with a woman and becoming one, but it doesn’t mention marriage. Don’t believe me? Look it up. I’m no Bible preacher so you’d think a Jesus freak like Graham would have a better grasp of the Bible than an agnostic political cartoonist (I did spend a year at a Baptist private school in Georgia. Hallelujah!).

Graham has never asked Trump to repent that I know of. While worried that Buttigieg is flaunting and politicizing his sexual orientation, he doesn’t have a problem with anything Trump flaunts.

Graham is a hypocrite and quite frankly, his relationship with Trump is unnatural and it kinda freaks me out.

Fascists In Florida

What kind of nation have we become that now when we hear George W. Bush speak, we think, how enlightening and refreshing it is. It has become the kind of nation where the current president calls black athletes protesting racism “sons of bitches” and folks marching among Nazis “good people.”

When Bush spoke last Thursday, what he said was what our current president is incapable of saying…or even thinking. It would disenfranchise his base, plus he’s not smart enough.

During his speech, Bush said, “we’ve seen nationalism distorted into nativism, forgotten the dynamism that immigration has always brought to America,” and “bigotry and white supremacy is blasphemy on the American creed.”

On the same day, while campaigning in New Jersey and Virginia Obama said, “bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication.”

Two former presidents, one Republican and one Democrat, neither would agree on much of anything, except that Donald Trump is bad for America. Donald Trump is blasphemy on the American creed.

Neither president named Trump, but they weren’t talking about your crazy uncle who keeps sharing racist memes and conspiracy theories about uranium deals on Facebook. White House Press Goon Sarah Huckabee Sanders said neither president was talking about Trump because they didn’t mention his name. If you had any doubt the White House is full of stupid people, that should take care of it right there.

One person who isn’t as dense as Sanders on the subject is Steve Bannon. He was furious with Bush. How dare he attack racism and white nationalism. He attacked Bush for reading a speech he didn’t understand and that was probably written by a speechwriter. Let’s forget for a moment that Bannon and his understudy in white nationalism, Stephen Miller has written speeches for Trump, that he can barely read off a teleprompter.

Bannon also said Bush was the “most destructive” president in U.S. history, which is something I would have agreed with before last January.

The racist and white nationalists have become more emboldened since the election of Trump. They were emboldened after the election of Obama, but back then they were more covert by hiding their true intentions under the Tea Party label.

The Tea Party shouted “I want my country back,” and claimed it was about Obama’s heavy spending. They ignored that Bush had wiped out the federal surplus. They held rallies with Alaskan dingbat Sarah Palin. Today, we have a president who is promising to spend more on the military, a useless border wall, and a tax cut for the rich that will hike taxes on everyone else and increase the deficit by $1.5 trillion over the next decade. He is also attacking the First Amendment, engaging in nepotism, and using the government to fund his businesses. How many Tea Party rallies have sprung up since he took office? How many of those same people have shouted “I want my country back” or expressed any concern over government spending? And, just how bad is Sarah Palin that she didn’t get an administration gig with the rest of the stupid people? They hired Ben Carson for fuck’s sake.

I guess it wasn’t about government debt after all. It was about a black guy becoming president. They were upset about a black man being elected president, but have no concern over a president who benefited from Russian meddling in our election, and continues to deny it ever happened. The people who claimed they wanted their country back gave it away. Do you see why I always say that conservatives don’t get irony?

One person who hates black presidents, black people in general, and is emboldened by the election of Donald Trump is Richard Spencer. Spencer is a white nationalist who once said he wants to “bathe in white privilege.” 

Spencer was a part of the Nazi-Tiki march in Charlottesville, and this past week he was allowed to speak at the University of Florida. After the violence and death in Charlottesville, the concern in Florida was so high that the Republican governor declared a state of emergency. The concern wasn’t unwarranted as three men who were making Nazi salutes and Hitler chants shot at protesters.

These Nazi fascists are emboldened. After Trump’s election, Spencer held a rally in Washington, D.C. and shouted, “Hail Trump! Hail our people! Hail victory!” Many in attendance threw up Nazi salutes. In the past, Spencer has said, “the ideal I advocate is the creation of a White Ethno-State on the North American continent.” He’s also stated, “when White men talk about ‘restoring the Constitution’—or, more so, ‘Taking Our Country Back’— leftists and non-Whites are right to view this as threatening and racialist: it implies a return to origins and that the White man once owned America.”

They are only going to get worse. When people asking for equality are “sons of bitches” and Nazis are “good people” in the eyes of the president, we need our elder statesmen to speak out.

It is extremely rare for former presidents to criticize the current president. But right now, remaining silent is criminal. It is dangerous to be silent and allow the white nationalists work to corrupt our democracy.

I want my country back. I also want our former presidents to fight for it with me. Next time, they need to say his name. Don’t let there be any confusion for the stupid people who work in the White House.

Bannon’s Blue Chips

Former White House chief strategist, head of Breitbart, and poster boy for nationalism Steve Bannon isn’t just trying to redesign the Republican Party into his racist image, he’s trying to do that to America.

Bannon’s politics are so warped to the right, he was against Trump picking Christian zealot and homophobe Mike Pence as his V.P. pick. Say it with me now. Yikes!

Bannon’s first success in electing a nationalistic bigot was Donald Trump. Unfortunately for Bannon, Trump’s only true ideology and passion are Donald Trump. Plus, he’s an idiot. Bannon will need to stack the United States Senate with racists and Nazi sympathizers if he wants to see the United States truly become an authoritarian state subservient to one master.

Inspired by Roy Moore’s primary win in Alabama, Bannon has promised to make every Republican senator face a far-right candidate in their primaries. Well, every Republican senator except Ted Cruz, because he’s horrible enough. Bannon is also targeting Congress and is supporting a former-congressman and felon who’s running for the last Republican-held seat in New York City.

The only problem Bannon may have with the type of candidates he prefers is that they also tend to be kinda stupid. Roy Moore didn’t even know what DACA is and had to have a radio show host explain it to him. Perhaps, after the candidates assume office they can call Bannon who will tell them how to vote.

Bannon envisions an authoritarian nation that rules instead of governs. He wants a government where the head of state’s authority won’t be questioned, and the legislative branch is a paper tiger that folds at his will. The only reason current Republican officeholders are subservient to Trump is that they are afraid of his base. While Trump’s disapproval ratings among people who are not total maniacs hover around 70%, his approval among those who voted for him is around 90%. These are people satisfied with the job performance of a man who has yet to do his job. And, people who voted for Trump are OK with racism.

Bannon wants to replace Republicans who don’t play nice with Trump and don’t share his vision of a culture war and race-baiting politics. Bannon promised to “cut off the oxygen” to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and stop his fundraising for establishment candidates. He’s also called for Senator Bob Corker to resign because he had the gall to question Trump’s ability to serve as president.

He said Corker’s comments about the White House being run like a daycare center are unacceptable, and he had the “audacity” to make those comments to The New York Times. For Breitbart, a propaganda machine, an actual news source that informs people are the enemy.

Bannon said Republican incumbents have committed “economic hate crimes” against the “forgotten man.” What the hell is an economic hate crime? Also, when he says “forgotten,” he means white.

Bannon is declaring “war” on the GOP establishment and all those that don’t back what Trump ran on. He said there is a “new game in town.”

Bannon’s “war” isn’t just on the GOP. It’s on all of us who don’t want a xenophobic, nationalistic racist nation run by complete dumb-asses.

Democrats can’t be fooled into believing that scary, freaky far-right Bannonites toppling establishment Republicans is good for them. First off, the Democratic Party doesn’t have their act together. While they may find a few opportunities in Arizona and Nevada if those incumbent senators are defeated, there’s not much they can do in places like Alabama.

There are eight Republican-held Senate seats up for re-election in 2018. Expect Bannon to target Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Mississippi, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Tennessee. Bannon may also support candidates in states the Democrats are defending, like Florida, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Virginia (I won’t let Virginia happen).

We already have Ted Cruz in the Senate and Roy Moore is likely to join him. Can you imagine how truly horrible it will become if six or seven more like them are elected?

Putin will be so happy.

The Very Famous WHITE WHITE House

This week, congress sent a resolution condemning neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the violence in Charlottesville. It was negotiated on a bipartisan basis by the delegation from Virginia, my state. It passed unanimously in the House and Senate. Donald Trump has signed it. Roy Wood Jr. of The Daily Show said, “Donald Trump is the only white dude I know who had to sign paperwork to prove that he don’t like Nazis. ‘Nazis aren’t my friends…yeah, we’re gonna need that in writing.'”

I just hope Trump doesn’t use this as an excuse to display more racist behavior, like every white guy believing having a black friend allows him to sing the N-word each time it comes up in Cee Lo Green’s song, Fuck You. “Oops. She’s a gold digger. Just thought you should know….” Yeah, don’t do that.

I know a fellow cartoonist who feels the need to tell everyone he’s not a racist, and he constantly gives out examples to prove he’s not one. I know a lot of people who don’t have to do that, probably because they’re not racist. Donald Trump has to do that.

This week, the White House is screaming for ESPN to fire Jemele Hill for tweeting out that Trump is a white supremacist. This is probably the first time the White House has demanded a personality from a television network be fired. Even the Obama White House didn’t ask NBC to fire that reality show dude who claimed he wasn’t born in this country in addition to being a racist. Who was that guy again? Oh yeah. Donald Trump.

Because, screaming for a network to fire a black person isn’t enough for one week, Trump doubled down on equating anti-fascists with Nazis. But, it’s OK. He now has paperwork saying he condemns Nazis…even though he thinks there were good people marching with them in Charlottesville chanting “blood and soil” and “Jews will not replace us.”

He also claimed he couldn’t condemn Nazis immediately after Charlottesville because he “needed to know all the facts.” But today, facts be damned. Trump tweeted about the latest attack in London, and probably gave out intelligence encouraging the terrorists to attack again, kill people, and hurry before the British catch them.

Trump has trouble hiding his racism because he is a racist. He has called Mexicans “rapists and murderers.” He said a judge can’t judge his sham-university case because the judge is Mexican. He’s trying to kick brown children out of this nation. And, let’s not forget his travel ban on Muslims.

So, while Congress has forced Trump to sign a piece of paper stating that he’s not a friend to Nazis, they haven’t taken away his wolf whistle.

The White House wants people fired who call the president a racist. Well, I’m calling him a racist. Donald Trump, you’re a racist. I have no doubt. Your supporters are enablers for whom racism is not a deal breaker. Though, most of them are racists too.

I assure you of this, no racist fucks are going to stop me from drawing more cartoons.

Candy And Nuts And Taylor Swift’s Butt

Donald Trump does not care if I think he’s a racist. He doesn’t care if you or anyone in the media believes he’s a racist. If a major Republican makes a comment about Trump being a racist, then Trump will probably tweet insults at the guy. But, Donald Trump doesn’t care about us. He has his base…and they’re racist.

That is a major reason why the Trump presidency will only get worse. Trump is only president to his base of sycophants, racists, and Nazi sympathizers and enablers. If Trump left office tomorrow (don’t get excited) to focus on golf and Hope Hicks, he would still go down as one of the worst presidents in U.S. history. It’s only going to get worse.

Our narcissist president couldn’t let his phony condemnation on Monday go as is. It was disingenuous. Everyone who is not a Trump sycophant found it dishonest and felt Trump was forced to issue the condemnation of Nazis. On Tuesday, Trump proved all of us correct. He really sympathizes with racists and equates those fighting for equal and civil rights with Nazis.

Trump’s fellow Republicans are dismayed the man couldn’t condemn Nazis without putting equivocations into it. How could the president not even name the hate groups the first time? So, they all rushed out to condemn Nazis and state how everyone should oppose hate…without any of them mentioning the president’s name.

You don’t get points for condemning Nazis. It doesn’t make you brave and it’s easy. Nobody should be awarded for doing the simple thing. It’s not a profile in courage to condemn racists.

And this is where we are. We have cowards running our government. People are not upset that Donald Trump is a racist. They’re upset that the president of the United States is a racist. While it’s easy to say Nazis suck, Republicans are deathly afraid of the Nazi sympathizer in the White House.

Now we don’t really have a president anymore. We don’t have a leader with moral authority. You give that up when you sympathize with Nazis. You give it up when you compare Civil Rights activists with White Supremacists. You lose it when you equate the victim with her murderer. What we are stuck with is a narcissistic racist man-baby with the power of the presidency.

For the next three and a half years, whenever Trump attempts to give the impression he cares about something other than himself, or he’s trying to do the right thing, it will be disingenuous.

It will be as believable as him condemning people who grab Taylor Swift’s butt.

Creative notes and a plug: I had planned to draw this cartoon yesterday, but then Trump conducted his racist train wreck in the lobby of Trump Tower. I’m glad I drew the “permit” cartoon because, wow! The cartoon has over 800 Facebook shares at this point and this website got nearly 4,000 views yesterday. Go, me. I hope people feel as passionately about Taylor Swift’s butt. I know I do.

Frank proofreads the column for me. He’s a few hours behind me as he’s on the West Coast, so if you ever see a mistake here feel free to point it out. We may not have gotten around to making the corrections yet, or we may have missed it as we’re both stupid guys who are easily distracted by things like celebrity butts and sandwiches.

Our Racist President

Even though it’s been a while since we’ve had “normal,” yesterday was still a day when you were in disbelief at what you were seeing.

What we saw was the president of the United States display rampant racism and threw shade and cover for White Supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan, and Neo-Nazis.

Saturday, the president blamed both sides for the violence in Charlottesville. After heated criticism, he returned two days later on Monday to condemn the racists, so we could all make believe our president wasn’t a racist. It didn’t sit well with him. It seemed forced under pressure. On Tuesday, the president proved that to be true and revealed his true feelings on the matter of race.

It’s often been said that when people show you who they are, believe them. Donald Trump showed us who he truly is and it’s not pretty. Before making comments on Monday criticizing racists, Trump attacked a black CEO for leaving his manufacturing council. After condemning racists, Trump retweeted tweets from a racist conspiracy theorist and floated the idea of pardoning the most racist sheriff in the nation, Joe Arpaio of Arizona who was convicted for incarcerating brown people on the suspicion they may be in the nation illegally. Apparently, none of that was good enough for Trump to reaffirm his racist base that he had their back.

Trump was in the lobby of his golden tower in New York City and was supposed to make comments on infrastructure when he took questions from the press, which was a surprise to everyone, including his staff.

First, he said he didn’t condemn Nazis on Saturday because he needed all the facts. The man who waged the birther campaign, claimed he saw thousands of Muslims in New Jersey celebrate 9/11, claims millions voted illegally, that he had the largest electoral victory and inauguration crowd ever, and that Barack Obama wiretapped him, needed all the facts.

This is a man who reacted swiftly to the Pulse nightclub shooting to use it as an argument for a ban on Muslim refugees, despite the fact the shooter was born in the United States. Trump has tweeted after terrorist attacks in the past way before he had “facts.”

What information did he need on Saturday before he could condemn the KKK and Nazis? Did he need a briefing that Nazis are bad?

Trump defended the racist protesters in that they were fighting against Confederate statues being removed. First, these protests aren’t really about the statues. They are an excuse for racists to march. He said, “Not all of those people were Neo-Nazis, believe me. Not all of those people were white supremacists by any stretch.” First, if anyone ever tells you “believe me, that check won’t bounce” while giving you a check, that check’s going bouncing.

He claimed there were good people among the White Supremacists. You can have the viewpoint that those statues should remain in place, but if you’re marching with people screaming “blood and soil” and “Jews will not replace us,” you’re NOT a good person. You’re an asshole. What the hell does the statues have to do with Jews anyway?

I saw a political cartoon from a racist conservative arguing for the statues and it stated, “those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.” Hey, good point. On that note, the racist cartoonist should learn some history about those statues and the fact most of them were erected during the Jim Crow era in the early 1900s and during the Civil Rights era of the 1950s and 60s. The KKK is marching so it seems we are doomed to repeat history. The Nazis have also returned and if we’re to repeat history there, they lose.

Trump went on to criticize both sides for the violence in Charlottesville, and blamed the “alt-left.” I haven’t heard anything that stupid since yesterday when a stupid conservative friend of mine on Facebook posted a Ben Shapiro column referring to some protesters as “black nationalists.” If being stupid is painful, that would explain why these guys are so angry.

You’re going to hear the term “alt-left” much more in the future, much like you’re hearing the term “snowflakes” now. It’s a term Sean Hannity loves, which is where Trump most likely got it from.

A note on this “alt-left” horseshit: The Alt-Right coined the term “alt-right.” They also created “alt-left.” Liberals are not calling themselves that because it doesn’t mean anything. To me, “alt-left” describes liberals who love Nirvana and Pearl Jam. It doesn’t exist, like “fake news.”

Trump claimed the “alt-left” was “very violent.” Trump accused people he called the “alt-left” of “swinging clubs” as they “came charging at, as you say, at the alt-right.” He said some of the right-wing members of the crowd in the Virginia park were “bad.” But he added that the other side came “charging in without a permit and they were very, very violent.” Trump must have missed the video where the racists were trying to kill African-Americans in a parking garage, or the fact that a Nazi drove a car into a crowd and killed a young woman, Heather Heyer.

Trump went on to ask “what’s next” regarding to removing statues. He asked if George Washington and Thomas Jefferson statues will be removed since they were slave owners. The man doesn’t understand history or why the Confederate statues are offensive.

Washington and Jefferson did not commit treason and fight against the United States. The Confederacy did and fought to preserve slavery. Again, most of those statues were erected to intimidate African-Americans and to let them know who was still in charge. They were placed to defy Civil Rights.

A documentary from HBO’s Vice News Tonight titled “Charlottesville: Race and Terror,” follows Christopher Cantwell, an unabashed white supremacist who spews racist invective while traveling around with a band of neo-Nazis. In the footage, Cantwell says there will be more rallies and protests and states, “We’re not non-violent, we’ll fucking kill these people if we have to.” About Heather Heyer’s death, he said “I’d say it was worth it. The fact that nobody on our side died, I’d go ahead and call that points for us.” He also says he expects more people to die in the future.

Why do Cantwell and his fellow racists feel so confident? Why do they feel so good about it? Because of Donald Trump. David Duke thanked Trump for his support on Tuesday. They got the message and they’re interpreting it as “make America great again.”

That’s what they’re doing to because they brought it to Charlottesville. A beautiful and wonderful place, Charlottesville is not home to this mess. Charlottesville should be known for UVA, The Center for Politics, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and The Dave Matthews Band. It’s not home to Nazis.

A lot of people accuse Republicans of being racist. George W. Bush and Mitt Romney were hit with that accusation. They may not have cared that much about minorities, but they were not racists. Most Republicans are not either. But, a lot of Republicans don’t find racism a deal breaker as they voted for Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is a racist, and those who continue to support him, or deflect and throw cover for Nazis (“but Obama and statues”) are too. Republicans like Jeff Flake and Marco Rubio lambasted him yesterday. More Republicans need to realize this is not a partisan issue. You can be a Republican and find the thought of lying with Nazis disgusting. Donald Trump does not.

Donald Trump showed us who he is and we need to believe him. It’s time for you to show us who you are. When your friends, family, and neighbors defend Trump they’re showing you who they are.

You better believe them.

Hillary Is A Bigot

Honestly, I am tired of using Kluxers in my cartoons. It’s just too easy of a trigger to pull, like Nazi imagery. I don’t like to use those comparisons unless the subject really warrants it. But I’m also tired of one of the major party’s candidate’s racism. Trump warrants it.

Donald Trump has referred to Mexican immigrants as rapists and murderers. He’s said an American-born judge wasn’t qualified to oversee a lawsuit involving Trump University because of his Mexican heritage. He’s proposed surveillance of mosques and an outright ban on Muslim refugees. He’s insinuated a Muslim mother who lost her son in the Iraq war of being forbidden to speak because of her faith. His company has been sued twice for not renting to black people. He’s been accused of racial discrimination toward employees at his casinos. He’s attracted white supremacists to his campaign and has been slow to disavow them. He’s questioned the first black president’s eligibility. He speaks of racial groups as monoliths as in, “the Muslims, the Hispanics, the blacks, etc.” He’s said some Native Americans “don’t look like Indians to me.” He’s mocked Elizabeth Warren by calling her “Pocahontas.” He’s encouraged mob justice for the Central Park Five, who were exonerated. He condoned the beating of a Black Lives protester and said “maybe he should have been roughed up.” He called supporters who beat up a homeless Latino of “being passionate.” He’s stereotyped Jews and shared an anti-semitic meme created by white supremacists. He referred to a black man in one of his crowds as “my African American.” He’s referred to woman as “pigs” and said Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her wherever.”

Mr. Taco Bowl who tweeted “I love THE Hispanics” with the pic says Democrats pander to minorities.

Now he’s trying to increase his poll numbers from 1% among black voters by saying they have terrible schools, live in poverty, and can’t walk down the street without being shot. The reality is they can’t attend a Trump rally without the possibility of being beaten up. He’s appealing to black voters by saying “what do you have to lose?”. The possibilities are terrifying.

Being the reflective person that he is, this week he called Hillary Clinton a bigot. Seriously. And that was on his teleprompter. It was probably put there by his new campaign CEO Stephen Bannon. Bannon joined the Trump campaign after an illustrious history at the Alt-Right website Breitbart.

“Alt-Right” is the new term for White Supremacist. They also like to use the terms “racialists” and “white nationalists.” They’re still racists no matter how much sugar they put on it. If you ever want to feel disgusted wander over to Breitbart and look up their section on black crime (yes. They have devoted an entire section on the subject), or better yet, take a peek at the comments left by their readers.

Are all Trump supporters racist? Of course not. Stupid, yes. Are all racists Trump supporters? Oh hell yes.

Republicans need to be careful because with Trump as the leader of their party the next term used by white supremacists will be “Republican.”
