Abortion

Ixnay Abortionyay Anbay

Lindsey Graham has never been a leader or a man with convictions. He’s a spineless coward who has the great fortune of being a United States Senator representing one of the least educated and most backward states in the nation.

Graham spent the bulk of his career following Senator John McCain, a man with actual principles. A man Donald Trump hated and said was only a war hero because he was captured. Graham was one of the umpteen candidates in the 2016 GOP primary and at the time, he said the best way to make America great again was by telling Donald Trump to “go to Hell.” After the election and the death of John McCain, Graham did a 180 and crawled up Donald Trump’s ass. Good thing it was an ample ass because it needed room for other former Never Trumpers like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul among others.

After Trump ordered white nationalists to storm the Capitol and overturn the 2020 election to make him an Oompa-Loompa fascist dictator, Lindsey chastised Trump and said he was done with the man. After being booed in an airport, Lindsey turned around and crawled right back up Trump’s ass followed swiftly by Kevin McCarthy who had also chastised Trump.

When the FBI searched Mar-a-Lago for documents Trump stole from the federal government, Lindsey warned there would be “riots in the streets” if Trump is prosecuted and not allowed to break the law as he wishes.

In 2016, after Republicans said a president can’t fill a Supreme Court seat during an election year, a baseless argument to deny President Obama to fill the seat vacated by the death of Antonin Scalia, and so they could steal the seat for Donald Trump to fill, Lindsey Graham said that rule will apply during any election year, no matter who is the president at the time.

Lindsey said, “I want you to use my words against me. If there’s a Republican president in 2016 and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say Lindsey Graham said, ‘Let’s let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination.’ And you could use my words against me and you’d be absolutely right.”

After Ruth Bader Ginsburg died in 2020, an election year, Lindsey, then the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, rushed through the confirmation of Trump appointee Amy Coney Barrett in the span of two months. Lindsey didn’t stand by his word because he doesn’t have principles. He’s a liar.

Republicans lied about the rules on filling Supreme Court seats. People need to pay attention because lying is their nature. When they say abortion should be a state issue, they’re lying. But sometimes one of the idiots says the quiet part out loud.

Now, Lindsey Graham wants to crawl out of Donald Trump’s ass and into your uterus, which would be the first time he’s ever touched a woman.

Lindsey Graham is proposing a NATIONWIDE ban on abortion after 15 weeks. The rest of the GOP is hemming and hawing that it’s a state rights issue, and Congress shouldn’t have any say over abortion. But they’re lying. Lindsey just said the quiet part out loud which they don’t want mentioned before the midterm elections. I promise you this: Even if the GOP only takes the House, there will still be a lot of talk from them about banning abortion nationwide.

Take Virginia’s governor, Glenn Youngkin, for example. During his campaign for the governorship, he only wanted to talk about President Biden sending the FBI to attack parents who didn’t want teachers making their white kids feel glum by teaching about slavery. He dodged questions about abortion. After the Supreme Court gave states the right to ban abortion, Youngkin turned around faster than Lindsey can crawl up Trump’s ass with a “free mint juleps” sign over it, and said he’ll sign any abortion restriction law the General Assembly sends to his desk.

If Republicans take back Congress, it won’t just be Lindsey Graham trying to ban abortion nationwide. It will be the majority of them. They will ban abortion nationwide. Even the ones who are pro-choice, like Susan Collins, are dumb enough to be tricked into voting to ban abortion. If Republicans get their way, they’ll get rid of Obamacare, gay marriage, mixed-race marriage, voting rights, and maybe even bring back slavery and indentured servants. That’s their idea of making America great again.

If you really want to make America great again, vote and tell Lindsey Graham and all the anti-freedom and MAGA fascists Republicans to go to Hell.

Apple Watching You

Full disclosure: This cartoon was drawn on an iPad. All of my cartoons have been drawn on an iPad since June 2021, and I believe I only have 11 payments left until I officially own my Ipad.

I love my iPad and my iPhone. I love how easily they make everything. I love how they sync together. I love that when I bought my very-outdated AirPods, I didn’t have to sync them to my devices. They automatically knew each other. I like that when I take a photo, it knows where I took the photo and will later present me with a gallery of the photos taken at that location. Hey, here’s your trip to Las Vegas or your trip to New York City. To me, that’s some fun tracking.

Apple unveiled the latest versions of its iPhone and watches last Wednesday. It’s the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8. I never buy the latest newest most up-to-date tech, but I did last year when I got my iPhone 12 and iPad pro 12.8. For about seven minutes, I was up to date with the latest technology. I don’t see any reason to update again for a while. But, there are people who bought the iPhone 13 and will now rush to own the 14, and in a few months the 15, then the 16…yeah, get out of here.

And while I do like Apple stuff, I realize they screw over the people who are loyal to them. You would think that someone who spends $2,000 on an iPad wouldn’t have to shell out another $130 for the Apple Pencil (and in my case, you’d expect the pencil to actually work and not crap-out and force you to wait several days for Apple to send you a new one). Microsoft’s first few versions of its Surface Pro included its Surface Pen until they got smart and started selling it separately. The iPhone used to come with EarBuds you could plug into your device. Now, not only do they not include the free EarBuds, but the newer iPhones don’t even include the input for your old EarBuds, forcing you to purchase AirPods if you want to listen to music privately. Nobody wants anyone else to know they’re listening to Cold Play.

As usual, there are new features to these products with one for the watch being a fertility tracker. The thing tracks women’s periods and fertility and will tell her when she’s ovulating. This feature can be very cool or very scary. Some people haven’t been this upset with Apple since that time they hid a U2 album on iPhones.

I think a watch that tracks your steps can be very cool. And it’s cool that it can track your heartbeat and warn you of palpitations and stuff like that. I’m not afraid of this stuff because I’m concerned about being tracked, but because I kinda get the feeling the watch will be like, “Are you sure you want to be eating all that pork?” But some people are concerned about how Apple is tracking them and where and how they’re storing the data. Hopefully, it’s better than the system of hiding shit in a basement at Mar-a-Lago.

It’s like when the vaccines came out and a lot of people were afraid of being vaccinated by the government. White people with concerns were mostly lying conspiracy-driven fucks believing the vax contained itty-bitty tracking chips, but black Americans had a better right to be concerned about what was in the vaccines and how it’d affect them. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Google “Tuskegee Syphilis Study.”

You might think we shouldn’t be too concerned about Apple storing data about us or Alexa sending all our personal deets back to her masters at Amazon, or another device tracking your sleep farts, though it does sound kinda Orwellian that not only are corporations tracking us, they’re selling us the products used to do the tracking.

That’s kinda like Nike selling you a shirt that advertises their product, and don’t get me started on my beef with YouTube showing me a commercial before I can watch a trailer to a movie. They’re forcing me to watch a commercial before I can watch a commercial. You motherfuckers, you.

But women have every right to be concerned with a corporation tracking their fertility after Republicans have wiped out abortion in nearly half the nation and working on banning legal abortion in the rest of it. And now, Apple will know when you’re ovulating and Amazon will know what tampons you’re buying. Getting ahold of this information is a Republican’s wet dream. Also, “Republican Wet Dreams” would be the worst-selling erotic novel on Amazon. Others would be “Ted Cruz comes into Bloom,” “Lindsey’s Night of Georgian Passion,” “Rand Paul: Just a Gigolo,” and “Trump’s Moist Misadventure in Moscow.” By the way, which word do women find the most disturbing? “Moist” or “Ted Cruz?”

So maybe when the government is doing all it can to erase privacy, and the Supreme Court saying the Constitution doesn’t guarantee a right to privacy except for where they live, it might be a rotten time for a corporation that’s worth over $2 trillion to sell a product made to stalk your periods.

What’s next? Is Apple going to charge us to name our children after them? Actually, Cold Play’s Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow did name one of their kids “Apple.”

I love my Apple stuff. I love my iPhone, iPad, and Air Pods, but they need to be careful about what they force upon their customers. If the new stuff includes an ebook titled, “a Moist Ted Cruz,” I’m throwing my shit out the window.

Creative note: This is from the batch drawn up before the Queen’s passing, which put everything else on hold. The rough for this was drawn up Wednesday evening after Apple released the new series. I wasn’t sure I was going to make a real cartoon out of this.

Treasonous Squirrels

While I don’t believe the raid on Mar-a-Lago was an intentional distraction, it can serve as one. Maybe that shitty thing will distract voters from all the other shitty things Republicans do.

Maybe the revelation that Donald Trump is a traitor to this nation and only cares about himself…OK, a reminder that Donald Trump is a traitor and doesn’t care about anyone except himself will distract voters from the fact that not one Republican voted for it.

The Inflation Reduction Act won’t just decrease today’s inflation, but it will provide benefits over the next decade and beyond. In addition to reducing inflation, it will decrease healthcare costs and fight climate change. It will reduce the growth of the deficit and includes a 15 percent minimum cash tax on corporations. Called the “Amazon Tax,” it is expected to raise $222 billion over 10 years and $35 billion in 2023. Republicans hate this.

Amazon, which had a seven-percent tax rate on a profit of $22 billion over the past two years, should see its tax rate increase to 15 percent, just like Tesla, which paid around nine percent over the past two years on a profit of over $7 billion.

The bill also moves to cap and lower seniors’ drug costs while sparing about 13 million low-and middle-income Americans from increases in their insurance premiums that would have risen in 2023. Republicans voted against that.

The Republican talking point against this bill is that it will add 87,000 Internal Revenue Service agents with guns to come after you. Since Republicans are saying this, it’s a lie.

The bill includes funding for the IRS which will “allow” them to add 87,000 employees, not 87,000 auditors…or the term the GOP is using, “agents.” These employees will be added over the next decade with many replacing retiring employees. In case you’re a Republican MAGA goon, a decade is ten years. The focus will be going after the mega-rich who cheat on taxes. Naturally, Republicans hate that and are telling middle-class voters they’re the ones the IRS and Democrats are going after. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said it would allow the government to hire tens of thousands of new IRS agents to “snoop around in your bank account, your Venmo, your small business, and then the government will shake you down for every last cent.”

Someone tell Kevin McCarthy that PayPal, which owns Venmo, already files all your incoming money with the government and sends you a 1099. So, you better file the payments you received through PayPal.

Republicans are also calling it a “tax increase on families” despite the fact it doesn’t raise individual rates. Republicans lie. But you have to lie when all your ideas and policy positions are shit, like blocking a $35 insulin cap.

An amendment in the Senate to add a $35 insulin cap only received only seven votes from Republicans, meaning it failed to reach the 60-vote threshold it needed to pass. Just how shitty are Republicans to vote against this?

Insulin can cost as much as $99 in the United States. The next nation where insulin is most expensive is Chile, where it can as much as $21. Insulin is life-saving medicine for many diabetics who don’t have a choice and must buy it, no matter the price. There are diabetics in this country who choose insulin over food. This means without caps from the government, the corporations selling it can just blah-blah-blah with the excuses for the high prices while raking in billions. Republican opposition to this was blamed on the cost being shifted to insurance premiums or that they were voting against socialism. How dare government go all socialist and cut costs for insulin.

Pharmaceutical companies are just as greedy and care for their consumers about as much as oil companies do.

I forgot to include in my cartoon the GOP vote against healthcare for veterans who are suffering from exposure to burn pits. The GOP initially voted for it, then against it just so Biden couldn’t get a win. Republicans turned around and voted for it again after they couldn’t tolerate the noise level from public outrage. See? Republicans don’t care about you at all. This is just an example that their positions are not based on any values or principles.

This brings us to abortion which most Americans support. Republicans spent decades trying to overturn Roe vs. Wade and they made a lot of celebratory noise when they finally got it. Now, they’re a little quieter about it after Kansas voters rejected a state ban on abortion. Republicans don’t want voters to be reminded that most of them will force ten-year-olds to birth their rapists’ babies.

Republicans are horrible and vile creatures. Since we can’t ban Republicans, maybe we can put a cap on them. I’m thinking of a cap of 35 Republicans per chamber in Congress and every state legislature. Of course, that wouldn’t be constitutional, so hey…Republicans should love it.

This November, do not let Republicans change the subject. Yes, Donald Trump is a vile human being and a criminal who should be going to prison. But the rest of the Republican party is just as vile. Vote them out. Don’t let them take Congress.

Why give control of Congress to the people who vote against healthcare for veterans, healthcare for you, insulin caps, inflation reduction, free elections, democracy, and abortion rights while covering up for a traitor?

Music Note: I listened to some Foo Fighters B-sides. These are songs that were never on an official Foo Fighter album. They’re demos, covers, outtakes, and songs for movie soundtracks. There’s a lot of good stuff in there. The Foo Fighters have recorded a lot of covers but they’ve never put one on an album.

Lessons From Kansas

Indiana lawmakers made sure not to do one thing last Friday when they banned most abortions in their yee-haw state. They made sure not to let their citizens vote on it. It’s a lesson they learned from Kansas.

Indiana is the first state to create new limits on abortions after the Supreme Court overruled its predecessors and declared it’s not a constitutional right. This vote was just three days after voters in Kansas rejected a measure to strip abortion from the state constitution, and after a ten-year-old fled Ohio, where nearly all abortions are banned, to abort her rapist’s fetus in Indiana.

Republicans nationwide were eager to ban abortion after the SCOTUS ruling but Kansas has slowed their roll. State Republicans in Florida, West Virginia, South Carolina, Nebraska, and Iowa were talking a lot of shit until the conservative voters in Kansas spoke out. The question every conservative needs to ask who plans to enact a state ban on abortion is: Is your state more right-wing fucknut fundamentalist than Kansas? It’s a good question and someone’s actually studied it. More on that in a minute.

Indiana’s fucknut Governor Eric Holcomb signed the new ban into law faster than Josh Hawley could run from a MAGA riot he helped instigate (I’m gonna be using this one for a while). The signing was within minutes of its passage, which was from a special session he called just to ban abortion. They knew not to let their voters vote on it.

In Kansas, Republicans thought it was a safe bet their voters would ban it, but just in case, they put the measure on the primary ballot, NOT the general election ballot. Gee, why is that?
Fewer people vote in primaries than in general elections. But, Republicans, I’m sorry to say, are much more consistent than Democrats in voting in primaries and special elections. Republicans are also much more motivated by wedge culture war issues like abortion than are Democrats. But, Kansas found out that even conservatives didn’t want to totally ban abortion. And, when it finally comes down to banning abortions, Democrats turn out the vote among themselves and Independents. The GOP just learned that the hard way in Kansas. It was like that time Eddie Murphy found out the hard way his hooker was a dude.

Indiana Republican goon legislator John Young said, “I know the exceptions are not enough for some and too much for others, but it’s a good balance.” Really? It’s a good balance to take away a woman’s right to control her own body and health? If John Young had a uterus, I bet he’d have a totally different definition of a “good balance.”

A good balance would be to let Indiana’s voters vote on it. Give more women a say in how their bodies are regulated. Don’t just leave it up to goons like John Young Governor Holcomb.

Right-wing and Indiana cartoonist Gary Varvel did a cartoon of it snowing in Hell because it’s such an unlikely occurrence that yee-haw state Republicans would ban abortion. What. A. Shocker.

Protestors were at the state capital demanding their legislature allow them to vote on it. Todd Huston, the Republican Speaker of the House said, “We’ve talked about the fact that voters have an opportunity to vote, and if they’re displeased, they’ll have that opportunity both in November and in future years.” That sounds like a statement from a goon in a safe district. By his logic, Indiana shouldn’t ever have measures put on ballots, just candidates.

Jennifer Drobac, a law professor at Indiana University Bloomington said, “Law made in haste is often bad law. This highlights the fact that these guys are not anticipating how unworkable this legislation will be. This is going to impact thousands of people who get pregnant in Indiana alone.” But they didn’t anticipate how unworkable it is because they don’t care if it’s unworkable. If it forces children to have rapists’ babies, that’s workable for male Republicans. They’re not shooting rapists’ babies out of their pee-holes.

The most recent unworkable Republican law made in haste that comes to mind is the one in Florida where fascist Ron DeSantis and other fascist Floridians stripped away Disney’s special district, leaving a giant tax burden on voters in the state which they haven’t figured out how to repair yet. Their knuckles have to be raw after dragging them on the ground so quickly.

So, which states would ban abortion if it’s left up to voters? That’s a good question and Nate Cohn of The New York Times might have the closest thing we’ll get to an answer without every state holding elections on the fundamental rights of abortion.

According to the Times’ analysis, support for abortion rights is below 50 percent in ONLY seven states, and it’s close in each of those seven. In fact, it’s only within a point or two in Utah, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Even in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, it’s within four or five points. These are close or within the margins of error. It’s possible that if left up to voters, not one state in this nation would ban abortion.

Even in Florida, where Republicans are talking big shit about banning abortion, 57 percent of its voters favor abortion rights. Texas and West Virginia are both at 52 percent in favor of abortion rights. All other MAGA-voting red states are also above 50 percent. Ohio, which has banned abortion even in the case of rape and incest, is at 61 percent. And in Indiana, which just banned abortion without letting the voters have a say, the support for abortion rights is at 58 percent. Keep in mind, Kansas overwhelmingly approved of abortion as a state constitutional right by 59 percent.

Knowing that they’d have the exact same results as Kansas, Indiana Republicans chose not to their voters made the call on abortion rights. But don’t worry. The fundamentalist fucknut goons took care of it for you.

Republicans are on the wrong side of every issue, but especially abortion, they had to steal three Supreme Court seats to overturn Roe. They’re changing election laws in multiple states to make it difficult for minorities to vote, but even with that, they should allow voters to vote on abortion. These GOP legislators are too cowardly though.

What they should do is put it on November’s general election ballot. That would increase voter turnout which is the last thing fascist Republicans want. A proven fact is that when more people vote, Democrats win more seats. Republicans are morons but they know they can’t win on the issues. It’s why they create bullshit like Critical Race Theory and gay textbooks.

Republicans, if you really want to ban abortion in America, then let Americans vote on it.

Cowards.

Follow Kansas

The Wizard of Oz is a brilliant movie, especially when you factor in the time it was made. From top to bottom, with the script, music, performances, costumes, and color, it’s nearly a perfect movie. And for cartoonists, it’s full of metaphors. Who hasn’t used flying monkeys in a cartoon? I usually stop at flying monkeys, but most other cartoonists mine the entire film for references in their work. The late great Dick Locher, who drew Dick Tracy and was an editorial cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune, once wrote a column about his love for using the Wizard of Oz in his cartoons. He had no shame in it, nor should he have. But, I have never really connected with using it in my cartoons, other than with the flying monkeys.

The flying monkeys are perfect for MAGA so I got a lot of use out of that metaphor. But I’ve never been able to connect to the rest of the movie. Honestly, for cartoons, it’s always bored me. So I struggled a bit with drawing this because I had a hard time getting into it. While I felt it was a good cartoon, I had doubts because of my anti-Wiz instincts. So I felt some relief when Laura, one of my proofreaders told me she liked it (without my having to fish for a compliment).

I told Laura about my doubts (I have them often), and she reassured me by saying, “Hey, who belongs in abortion commentary more than a teenage girl who spends a lot of time with men into cosplay? I’d say Dorothy has a stake in the issue.”

I told her that was going into the blog because it made me literally laugh out loud.

And Kansas seems to understand that Dorothy and all women in that state have a stake in the issue. Last night, Kansas voters resoundingly decided against removing the right to abortion from the state constitution.

It wasn’t a close victory either with the vote coming down to 59 percent in favor of keeping abortion as a right to 41 percent who opposed. This is a solid rejection of the United State Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that had protected abortion rights throughout the country.

Republican lawmakers across the nation are in a frenzy to ban all abortions in yee-haw states, even when the life of the mother is in danger. Even in the case of rape and incest. Kansas is the first time it’s been given to voters instead of fundamentalist fucknut lawmakers. Kansas voters said no.

Here’s the thing, kids. Kansas is a yee-haw state. Donald Trump beat Joe Biden in Kansas in 2020, 56 percent to 41 percent. In that election, Kansas was 19 percent more Republican than the national average. Abortion got a higher percentage last night than Trump got in 2020.

How bad is it for this nation that Kansas is more liberal and reasonable than the Supreme Court?

Kansas is not pro-abortion. It’s not liberal about abortion. It’s not a liberal position to want abortion to remain legal, despite what Republicans tell you. Republicans are the ones who are extreme on this issue. Forcing a ten-year-old to have her rapist’s baby is the extreme position.

It’s safe to say that the majority of Kansas voters would allow restrictions on abortion, but they don’t want it banned outright. Today, abortion is legal in Kansas up to the 22nd week of pregnancy. Other Republican fucknut yee-haw states are trying to ban it outright. Who knew Kansas was more liberal than Ohio?

Republicans put this measure on the ballot believing they were on the right side of the issue. They thought Kansas voters would send a message to the nation on banning abortion. They were right. The right-wing conservative majority of Kansas said to keep abortion as a constitutional right. Oops.

In 2017, Gallup found that 70 percent of Republicans wanted abortion to remain legal. It said 56 percent wanted it legal in some circumstances while 14 percent said all. In 2018, an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll found that 52 percent of Republicans did NOT want Roe v. Wade overturned. A study by the Pew Research Center published June 13, 2022, found that 61 percent of U.S. adults say abortion should be legal in all or most cases

Republicans learned something last night. They learned not to give the issues to voters again. While I’m sure all the yee-haw states would love to restrict the hell out of abortion, I bet the majority of voters in every state would vote to keep abortion legal. I bet the majority of voters in every state think it’s a really horrible position to force a child to give birth to her rapist’s baby. The fact is, the majority of this nation is pro-choice.

What kind of monster would force a child to give birth to her rapist’s baby? A fundamentalist fucknut Republican monster.

Pro-choice is not pro-abortion. Pro-choice people don’t love abortion.

Years ago when my little sister was a teenager, I asked if she was pro-life or pro-choice. She said she was pro-life as she thought abortion was wrong and she could never see herself getting one. So I said, “So, you believe abortion should be illegal.” And she said, “God, no. That option should be there, especially in the case of rape and incest. I just wouldn’t get one.” Then I had to give my little sister the horrible news that she was pro-choice. Now, she may have changed her mind since then since she’s gone full MAGA, but my point is, pro-choice is not pro-abortion.

The fact is, abortion should remain legal, even if you hate it.

Republicans can click their heels all they want but it won’t stop their anti-abortion position from always being the wrong position. Republicans know this too. You can bet they won’t put any more abortion questions on red state ballots again.

Music note: No, I did NOT listen to the Wizard of Oz soundtrack while drawing this. I listened to Weezer.

Rapey McForehead

Bad news, pro-choice ladies. Rapey McForehead says you’re too ugly to sleep with and impregnate. Awww…I know. You’re heartbroken. I know you had your hopes up. Sorry.

Matt Gaetz is a vile reprehensible disgusting troll, so it makes perfect sense he kinda looks like a garden troll. But even garden trolls in their late 30s wouldn’t try to take your daughter to prom.

Your garden troll would also probably have too much respect for women to show nude photos of them to colleagues on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.

But even if your garden troll was vile, reprehensible, disgusting, and had zero respect for women, he probably wouldn’t be dumb enough to go around grading the physical aspects of women while he was under an FBI investigation for having sex with a minor. And that’s exactly what Florida Representative Matt Gaetz is doing, commenting on the physical aspects of protesters while he himself is under investigation for having sex with a minor, paying for sex, and sex trafficking.

At the same conference, where he was telling kids “say no to fatties,” Matt Gaetz made a comment that Mike Pence will “never be president,” and refered to him as a “RINO.” Really? Mike Pence is a moderate? Maybe somewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s multiverse, there’s a moderate Mike Pence. But, Pence’s former Chief of Staff, Marc Short, took notice of Gaetz’s comment and said, “Well, I don’t know if Mike Pence will run for president in 2024, but I don’t think Matt Gaetz will have an impact on that. In fact, I’d be surprised if he’s still voting. It’s more likely he’ll be in prison for child trafficking by 2024.”

Speaking to Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa, yeah…kids, Matt Gaetz said women who care about reproductive rights and control over their bodies are too ugly for him and other Republicans to fuck. It was very reminiscent of when Donald Trump defended himself by saying his accusers weren’t hot enough for him to sexually assault.

Gaetz told students (who thought this was a good idea?), “How many of the women rallying against overturning Roe are over-educated, under-loved millennials who sadly return from protests to a lonely microwave dinner with their cats, and no bumble matches?”

Hey, kids. It’s fun and totally appropriate to sexualize women. The congressman does. The only hope here is that the kids were too distracted by Gaetz’s giant freaking forehead to have paid attention to the sexism that was coming out of his stupid big-teeth mouth.

This is a tactic Republicans often use when they can’t counter an argument. They try to destroy their opponent’s credibility. The problem with Gaetz’s use of this tactic is that Gaetz isn’t smart enough to use it. What does anyone’s physical appearance have to do with their position on human rights? Gaetz isn’t smart enough to understand that a lot of people advocate for the rights of other people, even if it doesn’t personally affect them. Case in point: I believe in abortion rights even though I can’t get pregnant and don’t plan on impregnating anyone ever again. I oppose GOP efforts to make it harder for black Americans to vote, even though their racist legislation won’t affect my right to vote.

Gaetz and other Republicans don’t get that you can care about people who are not you. Even Homer Simpson eventually had this epiphany in The Simpson’s Movie.

But, Gaetz wasn’t done. The guy who can’t get laid unless he pays a child for it (supposedly) said, “Have you watched these pro-abortion, pro-murder rallies? The people are just disgusting. But why is it that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions? Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb. These people are odious on the inside and out. They’re like 5’2”, 350 pounds, and they’re like, ‘Give me my abortion or I’ll get up and march and protest.’ I’m thinking, march? You look like you got ankles weaker than the legal reasoning behind Roe v. Wade. A few of ‘em need to get up and march. They need to get up and march for like an hour a day, swing those arms, get the blood pumping, maybe mix in a salad.” I wonder if Gaetz swings his arms while trolling high schools?

Apparently, Gaetz has been seeking out PILFs, protesters he’d like to fuck. At some point, I hope the person who booked Gaetz for this event realizes it wasn’t a good idea to book a man in favor of forcing ten-year-old girls to give birth to their rapists’ babies, might be a rapist himself.

Hey, everyone, the possible pedophile has some thoughts on your abortion protest.

But what if Gaetz is right? What if a person can be too ugly to protest? If some people are too ugly to protest, then some people are too stupid looking to serve in Congress.

And if having someone who wants to sleep with you is a requirement to have an opinion, then every incel on GAB, 4chan, Truth Social, and all the other social media sites need to get off the internet. Paying someone for sex doesn’t count, since they have to WANT to sleep with you.

Why is it that the men who think they’re qualified to determine who is and isn’t attractive enough to have sex are always men who look like Donald Trump and Matt Gaetz? Has Matt Gaetz seen himself? Does he have a mirror large enough to catch his face and forehead? Why is it that the men who criticize women’s appearances the most are always the men who’ve been accused of rape and sexual assault?

This brings up the late great George Carlin, who Gaetz stole his bit from (we have the internet too, fucko). Carlin asked, ““Why is it that most of the people who are against abortion are people you wouldn’t want to fuck in the first place?”

Looking at Matt Gaetz and Donald Trump, quite frankly, I think most women would rather fuck a garden troll.

Pro-Birther Priorities

Republicans’ first talking point after learning a ten-year-old girl had to cross state lines to get an abortion after being impregnated by a rapist was to say it wasn’t true.

A child was raped and impregnated. She couldn’t get an abortion in her home state of Ohio because the GOP in that state banned abortions after six weeks with no exceptions for rape or incest. She was pregnant for six weeks and three days. So, she went to Indiana for the procedure. Republicans said this story was “too good to be true” for Democrats.

In saying the story was too good to be true, in that Democrats could use it politically against the GOP’s stupid backward knuckle-dragging cave-dwelling anti-women policies, Republicans were admitting that forcing a ten-year-old to give birth to her rapist’s baby is fucking horrible and an outrage. That’s the policy they support but they don’t want you to talk about it.

It is Republican policy to force children to have their rapists’ babies. They didn’t respond to this story by arguing for the fetus. They argued it was a lie. After learning it wasn’t a lie, they changed their focus to the rapist and the doctor who performed the abortion.

They did argue that the rape and abortion weren’t reported, except they were. After that, they went after the immigration status of the rapist. After all, it was Donald Trump who said Mexico was sending us rapists and murderers. They claim that this rape never would have happened if we didn’t have open borders so obviously, the blame should fall squarely on President Joe Biden.

Yeah, except we don’t have open borders. If we had open borders, immigrants wouldn’t be dying in the back of tractor trailers after being smuggled into the country. Our borders are closed which is why there is smuggling. If your local movie theater allowed you to bring your own snacks, you wouldn’t be smuggling Goobers in the pockets of your cargo pants.

Also, has anyone asked when this undocumented rapist immigrant entered the country? Did he sneak in during Biden’s presidency…or Trump’s (sic)? According to GOP logic, no one entered our nation illegally during the Trump presidency (sic).

Then, they focused on the doctor. Their first excuse was that they didn’t believe the story because the doctor is an activist and has a history of campaigning for abortion rights. That’s an excuse? Gym Jordan’s other excuse is that President Biden talked about it and you can’t ever believe anything he says. Keep in mind that Donald Trump, the guy who told over 30,000 lies during his presidency (sic) is the leader of the Republican Party.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita went after the obstetrician-gynecologist who performed the abortion, threatening her with “criminal prosecution and licensing repercussions” if his investigation determined she didn’t file the required paperwork within three days of the abortion. Rokita sent a letter to the governor detailing his investigation and then went on Fox News to continue screaming about it despite that it was already reported in multiple news outlets that the required paperwork had been filed and the entire procedure was legal.

The Associated Press, Politico, and The Indianapolis Star obtained copies of the reports showing the doctor did submit them on time. But, the state AG continued his campaign of defamation. Now, the doctor has sent him a cease-and-desist telling him to stop “making false and misleading statements” about her or face a potential defamation lawsuit. Good. I hope she sues his troglodyte balls off.

Republicans would rather focus on the bullshit than the facts because the facts will highlight that they believe rape victims, even children, should be forced to give birth.

Abortion is not illegal in this country. The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, but it didn’t ban abortion. They just gave it to the states to decide which all the yee-haw states will now use to ban abortion. A lot of these will ban it even in the case of rape and incest.

Republicans don’t want to talk about this because most Americans, even a majority of Republicans, believe abortion should remain legal for rape and incest victims. But the Republican Party believes every woman, or child, should be forced to give birth.

Forcing a ten-year-old to give birth to her rapist’s baby isn’t pro-life. It’s child abuse. But since Republicans don’t do anything to stop fourth graders from being murdered during school shootings, we know they don’t really care about children. Their obsession is with control and fundamentalist religious zealotry.

Since Republicans don’t want to talk about it, and the majority of us believe it’s fucking backward, stupid, vile, and disgusting to force a child to give birth to a rapist’s baby, let’s make them talk about it.

Every Republican in this country from your local dog catcher to your congress to your senator to your presidential candidate should be asked, “Do you think a ten-year-old girl should be forced to give birth to her rapist’s baby?” Most of them will not give an answer. Most of them will deflect.

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was asked by CNN’s Dana Bash if she’d work to change the law in her yee-haw state to allow exceptions to rape and incest, and Noem answered with, “Squirrel!!!!” Noem proceeded to lay a trail of bullshit as an answer saying the decision should be up to the doctor, family members, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc. But, how can the decision be up to the doctor and family members when South Dakota has already made that decision for them?

That’s why we need to nail every single Republican to the wall on this.

They want to force birth. We need to force answers.

Pro-Rape Republicans

Ohio Republican congressman Jim Jordan tweeted that the story of a ten-year-old leaving Ohio to receive an abortion in Indiana was a lie. After it was confirmed to be true, he took the tweet down, then he lied.

Being that he’s a cheap lying despicable vulgar piece of crap without any shame, it was business as usual for Jordan, who many like to refer to as “Gym” Jordan after it was revealed he ignored sexual assault among the students he coached while he was a wrestling coach at Ohio State University.

Jordan’s first defense for the tweet was to point out the rape was committed by an undocumented immigrant. Then, he blamed the media, stating he was just commenting on one of their headlines which didn’t really make any sense and was another lie. Jordan was retweeting a report from conservative news outlet the Washington Examiner, which was reporting that Ohio’s Attorney General, Dave Yost, had yet to find any evidence that the claim was true, which was cited by President Biden. Jordan retweeted the report with the comment, “Another lie. Anyone surprised?”

Then, Jordan blamed President Biden claiming that doubting him is “usually the right thing to do,” despite the fact the president didn’t lie. Maybe Jordan was thinking of the last president (sic).

Jordan said he wasn’t calling the child a liar though he literally called the story “another lie.” He refused to apologize or express regret. Is anyone surprised?

After reading about this yesterday, I tweeted to Jordan that maybe he “thought the 10-year-old girl was lying about being raped because he thought she was a college wrestler.” A lot of my readers wanted me to make that my next cartoon, but I didn’t want Jordan to be the focus of it. The focus here belongs on all Republicans.

Republicans wanted this story to be false because it reveals the inhumanity of banning abortions. They believe cases of ten-year-old rape victims needing abortions would be extremely rare examples, yet we have one less than three weeks after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. In Ohio, abortions are banned after six weeks, even in cases of rape and incest. This child’s pregnancy from her rapist was at six weeks and three days.

Instead of pursuing the case, Ohio’s Attorney General, Dave Yost, chose to go on TV and deny it existed. He told Fox News, ““We have regular contact with prosecutors and local police and sheriffs—not a whisper anywhere.” This was 11 days AFTER the Indianapolis Star reported that Dr. Caitlin Bernard of Indiana had performed an abortion for a ten-year-old rape victim from Ohio who could not legally terminate the pregnancy in the child’s home state. And three days after Biden spoke passionately about the case at the White House, saying, “She was forced to have to travel out of the state to Indiana to seek to terminate the pregnancy and maybe save her life. Ten years old—ten years old!—raped, six weeks pregnant, already traumatized, was forced to travel to another state.”

Yost told another news outlet, “Every day that goes by, the more likely that this is a fabrication. I’m not saying it could not have happened. What I’m saying to you is there is not a damn scintilla of evidence. And shame on the Indianapolis paper that ran this thing on a single source who has an obvious ax to grind.”

Instead of going on TV and calling the story a lie, Yost could have simply walked the six blocks from his office in the state capital to the headquarters of the Columbus Police and peeked inside their crime reports. If he had done so, he would have found that the Columbus police had received a report of a ten-year-old rape victim in the same time frame reported by the newspaper.

Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, and Jesse Waters all called it either a “lie,” a “hoax” or “Biden’s abortion story.” After it turned out to be true, they all shifted their focus on the rapist’s immigration status in order to deflect from the fact they were all wrong and to cast blame for the rape on President Biden’s “open borders” policy. Jesse Waters even took credit for the arrest, as though it wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t on TV calling it a lie.

After the rapist was arrested, Tucker still said the facts “didn’t make sense.”

There is no real surprise that there’s no accountability at Fox News, but what about The Wall Street Journal? Well, they are owned by the same company.

The Wall Street Journal cast doubts on the story in an editorial titled, ““An Abortion Story Too Good to Confirm.” Yeah, but it was confirmed. The Journal wrote, “All kinds of fanciful tales travel far on social media these days, but you don’t expect them to get a hearing at the White House.” Actually, we got used to it during the Trump administration. Remember “migrant caravans?”

The Journal also wrote, “There’s no evidence the girl exists,” and dismissed the word of the doctor involved in the case: “You may not be surprised to learn that Dr. Bernard has a long history of abortion activism in the media.” You may not be surprised to learn that conservatives make shitty journalists. In the future, you can say the Journal has a long history of being chock full of bullshit.

After discovering they were wrong, the Journal added an editor’s note at the bottom of the editorial which should have read, “Yeah, every line you just read and got gleeful over…yeah…that was a bunch of bullshit. Our bad.” Realizing an editor’s note wasn’t good enough, or that it’s not what responsible journalists do with such a huge fuck up, they wrote an entirely new editorial. Was it about how much they suck? Nope.

The Journal wrote a new editorial titled, “Correcting the Record on a Rape Case,” and blamed law enforcement for not coming forward with the information. The Journal never apologized or admitted it was at fault for publishing misinformation. They never owned it or apologized to the family of the rape victim.

The thing is, it’s not law enforcement’s job to report. It’s the news outlet’s job to get the information, especially from law enforcement which has a history of suppressing information and lying. You do that by asking questions and probing. The Journal didn’t do that. Instead, it followed the lead of other conservative news outlets in casting doubt and calling a ten-year-old rape victim a liar. While not having any proof of the existence of a ten-year-old rape victim, none of these outlets bothered to find out if what the president of the United States was talking about was true or not. The fact that a ten-year-old girl was raped in Colombus, Ohio in the time period the Indiana doctor reported was very easy to discover. None of these conservative news outlets or Ohio’s idiot MAGAt Attorney General or its Trumper dumbass congressman with the weird chin and shoulders bothered to check before calling it a lie.

Now, Indiana’s Attorney General wants to investigate the doctor who performed the abortion. To him and other Republicans, she’s committed a larger violation to the ten-year-old’s body than the rapist did. Isn’t one dumbass right-wing fucknut state attorney general in the midwest enough?

And you know what else is true? MAGAts on the internet are going to continue to call it a lie. You know that will happen if it’s not going on already. And if they do accept she was raped, they’ll probably claim the immigrant did it with Hunter Biden and there are photos on his laptop proving it. Dammit, I gotta stop writing material for these goons.

What else is true is that these cases are going to continue to happen. This is why Republicans are trying to shift focus now, now just from their lies but from the fact that not allowing incest and rape victims, even those as young as ten years old, to have abortions is a horrifying policy.

Forcing a child to give birth to her rapist’s baby isn’t pro-life. It’s pro-birth and it’s inhumane. A lawyer for National Right to Life said this rape victim should have been forced to have the baby. Most Republicans don’t want to say that out loud, though they actually agree with it. They’d rather scream about Joe Biden, the media, and brown immigrants and hope you don’t notice that a child was forced to give birth to a rapist’s baby because abortions were banned in her state.

All these news outlets, Ohio’s shitty stupid attorney general, and its shitty stupid congressman owe the rape victim and her family an apology. Instead, they’ll probably just gaslight while creating new laws making it illegal to leave the state for an abortion.

If Republicans retake the House, Jim Jordan will most likely be the chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

As I said, we’re going to see a lot of repeats of this story.

Made Possible By The GOP

Part of the Supreme Court majority’s argument in overturning Roe v. Wade was that this nation needs more children available for adoption. Justice Samuel Alito cited a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on why so many “suitable homes” are available: “the domestic supply of infants … relinquished at birth or within the first month of life available to be adopted [has] become virtually nonexistent.”

Alito pushed aside the argument of the constitutionality of abortion and “adopted” the reasoning that we should ban abortion to stock up baby mills. A high demand for rich people to adopt is not justification for women to lose the constitutional right to make decisions regarding their own bodies.

Let me sidetrack for just one paragraph to counter COVID deniers who’ve created a false equivalence that choosing to wear a face mask is the same as choosing whether or not to have an abortion. They like to throw “my body, my choice” at liberals. This is so basically simple I can’t believe I have to explain it, but I don’t have a lot of choice in you giving me COVID. You wear a face mask to protect others. A woman you don’t know having an abortion doesn’t affect you, but you can catch COVID from ignorant obnoxious assholes who are stupid and selfish enough to politicize a pandemic.

Speaking of politicizing an issue, that’s exactly what Alito and the rest of the majority goons did with abortion. That’s exactly what you do when you leave out crucial facts to your sidebar that when revealed, turn it into total gobblygook bullshit. Research shows that 90 percent of women who choose not to have an abortion end up keeping the child, not giving it up for adoption.

Republicans always argue they want “constitutionalists” to be judges. Yeah, me too. These right-wing goons on the highest court in the land rely more on fucknut talking points than the United States Constitution.

Adoption is for the rich and powerful, which means the product has to come from the poor. Basically, the Supreme Court wants poor women to be baby mills for the rich. The average cost of adopting a child in the United States is around $70,000. SCOTUS is less concerned with the Constitution and more concerned with capitalism.

Adoption is a great thing. I’m not dissing it and I’m not trying to put people down for being wealthy enough to adopt. I want every child in need of a home to find one. I love that there have been two adoptions in my own family (neither were babies). But, we shouldn’t purposely create children for adoption. Republicans are making the decision for women to use their bodies to be baby factories so the elite will have more options to adopt.

But it’s not just with forcing women to give birth where Republicans are great at creating parentless children.

Aiden McCarthy is two years old and he doesn’t have parents because they were both murdered during a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park this week. Kevin and Irina, Aiden’s parents, were murdered with the type of assault rifle Republicans and the NRA fight to make available to every person in the United States. They continue to resist, not just bans to these killing machines that nobody needs, but they even resist regulations for them.

The killer in Highland Park bought his assault rifle legally, even after at least two encounters with police. One encounter was over a suicide threat and the other was when a family member reported him saying he was going to “kill everyone.” Highland Park police confiscated 16 knives, a dagger, and a sword without arresting him.

Later, the then-19-year-old future murderer applied for a firearm owner’s identification card, which his father sponsored despite the kid’s past threats. The future killer passed four background checks. FOUR FUCKING BACKGROUND CHECKS. There were reports on this guy with the Highland Park Police and the Illinois State Police.

Now, because of our wishy-washy laws and regulations regarding assault weapons in this nation, Aiden McCarthy’s parents along with five others are dead. In addition to overturning Roe, the Supreme Court also weakened gun laws two weeks ago.

So, yeah. The Pro-Death Party is good at creating orphans for adoption.

Independence Day 2022

Is it ironic or coincidental that Independence Day arrives this year just as the Supreme Court destroyed independence for women to make decisions regarding their own bodies?

I don’t like holiday cartoons but I usually do one for Independence Day because it’s a great tool to make a point about freedom and hypocrisy in this country. Since I did a cartoon on Juneteenth, I feel I should do one for July 4th.

There’s a lot of hypocrisy that comes with celebrating Independence Day. For example, right-wing cartoonists who supported Donald Trump’s insurrection will publish red, white, and blue rah-rah flag-waving cheerleading bullshit on July 4th. These goons are the same goons who defend Ashli Babbitt and cry for her. This is like celebrating the Fourth of July while worshipping Benedict Arnold.

Come to think of it, if you’re a Trump supporter, you shouldn’t be celebrating the Fourth of July. You supported an insurrection against this nation. You supported the Big Lie that democracy doesn’t work and Trump had the election stolen from him. You supported motherfuckers who carried the Confederate flag through the halls of Congress. You support new election laws that take away voting rights from millions of Americans or at least make exercising their right much more difficult. You’re supporting new laws that give legislatures the right to decide who wins elections in their state, ignoring the vote tallies from local electoral boards. And today, you’re supporting destroying more rights for women. You’re advocating taking freedom away from citizens of the United States based on your religious mumbo-jumbo.

Trying to install the losing candidate as a fascist dictator isn’t done by people who love America. It’s done by goons who hate democracy. it’s unAmerican.

So on Monday, Magats, grill your hotdogs, drink your Skunky Lite, blow up fireworks, and scream “murica” despite the fact you’re a hypocritical traitor to this nation. I don’t want to see you two-face bastards displaying how much you love the country you’re trying to destroy.

A lot of people who’ve had their rights taken away are refusing to celebrate the Fourth this year. They feel this nation has betrayed them and they’re right. I think the MAGAts shouldn’t celebrate the Fourth. They should celebrate January 6, not because it’s Independence Day for MAGAts, but because it’s Treason Day.

I love the United States but it’s complicated. Despite all its flaws and times throughout history where she let me down as she’s doing today, I will still fight to save her from Donald Trump, Republicans, and MAGAts.

MAGA is unAmerican.
