Trump’s White Power

For the past five years or so, I have been saying supporting Donald Trump doesn’t necessarily make you a racist, but it does mean racism is not a dealbreaker for you. Why is that? Because Donald Trump is an obvious racist.

Donald Trump’s supporters argue he’s not a racist after each one of his acts of racism.

Sued by the Justice Department for discrimination against blacks…TWICE? That’s not racist.

Champion of birtherism by accusing without any proof that the nation’s first black president was born in Kenya. Nah, that’s not racist.

Bought full-page ads calling for the death of black and Latino teenagers in the Central Park 5 case, then not retracting it after being proven innocent. Nope. Not racist.

Starts his campaign by promising to build a wall to keep out immigrants and says Mexico is sending us rapists and murderers? I guess that’s not racist either.

Complains about people coming here from “shithole” countries and wants more people from places like Norway. Racist? What are you talking about?

Says a judge isn’t fit to preside over one of his fake university trials because he’s of Mexican descent. Paul Ryan called that racist, but what does he know?

Tweets that four brown American female representatives in the United States Congress should go back to where they came from. That’s not racist or sexist. Sheesh!

He says there are fine people marching with tiki torch neo-Nazis shouting “Jews will not replace us” and “Blood and soil.” Sure, nice people often march with Nazis.

He defends symbols of the Confederacy as his “heritage.” Nope, not racist for a New Yorker to define the racist Confederacy as his heritage.

Conducts two hate rallies where he uses the term “Kung Flu virus.” Why that’s just telling us where the coronavirus came from…Kung Flu land.

Then, he retweets a video of his supporters screaming…”White power,” thanking them for their support. Uh…

So, none of that is racist? Not one of those instances? If you talk to a Trump supporter, nope. Not one. It’s just the media not understandings him, or he was joking, or something is out of context, or he didn’t mean what he said, or he accidentally retweeted a racist statement while accidentally typing a thank you or…

I got some news for you, Gladys. If you don’t think any of those examples (and there are more) are racist, then you are a racist.

Donald Trump is a racist and we keep getting these racist incidents from him again and again and again and, etc. Donald Trump has more examples of racism than David Duke. Seriously. You would think if you have a track record of being accused of racism, then you wouldn’t keep doing racist shit. Even if you are a racist you would probably want to attempt to conceal it. Right? Not this racist.

On Sunday, right before going to one of his golf resorts of racist assholes, Donald Trump tweeted a video of a bunch of his supporters at The Villages in Florida zipping around in golf carts in a dueling demonstration against some of his critics. Donald Trump wrote, “Thank you to the great people of The Villages.” And in the video clip, you hear one of the villages’ idiots shouts, “White power!” In fact, he shouted it twice. It’s not obscure. It’s not buried by other sounds. The white Trump supporter shouts “White power.” What’s next? Tweeting a video of a cross burning only to claim later he didn’t know what it meant?

I don’t care if your Twitter profile states, “Retweets are not endorsements,” retweets are endorsements. Donald Trump endorses white power. Donald Trump is a racist.

Tim Scott, the only black Republican in the Senate said Trump should take it down (he did) and that it was “indefensible.” So, Senator Scott…stop defending the indefensible. Donald Trump is a racist.

A White House spokesgoon, Judd Deere, who should be resigning instead of defending the indefensible, said, “President Trump is a big fan of The Villages. He did not hear the one statement made on the video. What he did see was tremendous enthusiasm from his many supporters.”

Translation: Donald Trump is a big fan of racists at The Villages and what he saw was tremendous enthusiasm from his racist supporters.

There was no condemnation of the slogan or the person. Just a, “Oh, I didn’t hear that.” Yeah. He didn’t hear it while going to the trouble of watching it, realizing they were supporters, and it was something he wanted to retweet. Are you telling me he didn’t watch it all the way through even once?

As Sarah Marshall said in the film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, “Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.”

And, there was no statement of any sort saying they didn’t want the support from people who shout “white power.” Nope. They want that support.

Donald Trump has spent the past five years sending out dog whistles to racists. Over the past month as people have been taking to the streets shouting “Black lives matter,” he’s been turning those dog whistles into cattle calls. He’s doing everything he can to tell his narrow white racist base he’s one of them.

Donald Trump thinks he can win four more years by dividing this nation and solidifying his white racist support. But the thing is, he already has those people. How many racists are out there who are undecided? Do you honestly believe there are white supremacists out there not making a commitment until they hear who Joe Biden has selected as his running mate? Donald Trump is a racist. He’s their man.

Donald Trump is playing a stupid game where he’s telling his supporters he’s a racist while telling the rest of us he’s not. It’s a stupid game that only works on stupid people. By “stupid people,” I mean racist Trump supporters.

Sherrilyn Ifill, president and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund said, “This really is not about the president taking it down. This is about the judgment of the president in putting it up. It’s about what the president believes and it’s time for this country to really face that.”

What Donald Trump believes is white supremacy. What Donald Trump believes is white power and it is time for the country to face that.

I used to think if you supported Donald Trump then racism wasn’t a dealbreaker for you. After all this, I know it’s just not a dealbreaker for you. Racism is the deal. You’re not voting for Donald Trump despite his racism. At this point, you’re voting for Donald Trump because of his racism.

Donald Trump is a racist and if you’re supporting Donald Trump, you’re a racist too. When you say, “Trump 2020,” you’re saying “white power.”

The-Anti-Anti-Fascist

Other than voting and drawing political cartoons, I am not an activist. By that I mean, I don’t protest. I don’t sign petitions. I don’t write or call my congressman or senators (they’d call me first). I don’t contribute money to causes or political campaigns. I don’t plant signs in my front yard. I don’t put political bumper stickers on my car. So, to all those people sending me petitions and things through Facebook and Twitter messengers I “HAVE” to share…STOP! And while we’re on the subject, stop sending me memes and other political cartoons too. I just don’t need the aggravation, OK? But I digress.

I don’t participate because of the entire journalism ethics thing. I can draw cartoons opposing Trump but I can’t be part of a political organization opposing Trump. Being part of an organization makes me biased while attacking Trump. Being independent while attacking Trump makes me impartial. A lot of people don’t understand that and that’s OK, just so long as I do. Conservative cartoonists don’t understand it but they don’t do ethics anyway.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, I went to a Trump rally. I talked to a lot of Trump supporters. I did not protest. I didn’t wave a sign. I didn’t scream or even heckle. In fact, I didn’t even tell one Trump supporter my thoughts and opinions about Trump. I wasn’t there to tell them my opinion. I went to try to understand theirs. I failed because I still don’t understand it. But, I went to observe and learn. It was terrible and I needed a power washer to scrub the residual hate off me, but again, I digress.

So, I oppose Trump but I’m not in an organization. Am I part of a movement? Am I the Resistance? One reason among many that I oppose Trump is because I am anti-fascist. Donald Trump is a fascist wannabe. Does my opposition to Trump make me Antifa? I don’t know.

Here’s the thing, kids. Antifa is not an organization. It’s a movement. It’s not a Democratic movement. It’s not a liberal movement. It’s not even a large movement. It’s anti-fascist. Many of them engage in violence and destruction. A true liberal would never trash a Starbucks. I think I can say I’m anti-fascist without having to give the qualifier, “But I oppose violence and vandalism.” That gives control of the narrative to Donald Trump and Republicans.

Yesterday, there was a demonstration from the far-right racist organization Proud Boys in Portland, Oregon. The founder of Proud Boys describes his group as a “fraternal organization” for young “Western chauvinist” men. Their rally was a so-called “End Domestic Terrorism” rally, but they weren’t there to end mass shootings by white guys with manifestos repeating Donald Trump’s rhetoric. Their goal was to get Antifa declared as a domestic terrorist organization.

Proud Boys is a fascist organization that only admits men and promotes violence. The Southern Poverty Law Center has described it as a “Far-Right Fight Club.” Except these guys are too stupid not to talk about Fight Club. One of the initiations for membership is to get into a “major” fight “for the cause.” Another rule for Proud Boys is that they refrain from masturbating which I’m sure isn’t frustrating because being a punchy, angry, right-wing racist in a pro-chauvinism group while having a bad haircut and wearing a polo shirt must make you a chick magnet.

While the founder disavowed the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville where a white nationalist killed Heather Heyer and another was convicted for assaulting DeAndre Harris, Proud Boys were there participating with other racist organizations.

For their hate rally in Portland yesterday, Antifa rose to oppose them. Guess which group Donald Trump tweeted an attack of. Guess which group he didn’t mention.

Earlier this month, while speaking to reporters about white supremacists violence, Trump said that “Antifa” and “other kinds of supremacy” were similarly concerning. Trump can’t criticize white racists without a qualifier. And, what other kinds of supremacy? Nachos supreme?

Yesterday, he tweeted that Antifa should be designated as a “terrorist organization.” Last month, Republican senators Bill Cassidy and Ted Cruz introduced a bill designating Antifa as a terrorist organization.

Yesterday, Representative Dan Crenshaw sent a tweet complaining that Antifa was violent while Hong Kong protesters were demanding freedom and actually fighting fascists. With the amount of violence and shutdowns of highways, businesses, and even the city’s international airport, maybe Crenshaw shouldn’t be comparing Antifa to the Hong Kong protests. Or course, it’s also possible that Crenshaw is doing the thing Republicans always do and that is talking about something that they don’t know anything about.

Why are these Republicans attacking a movement, not an organization, while ignoring murders by white supremacists? Why haven’t any of them mentioned “Proud Boys?” Surely, Ted Cruz has to have an issue with the masturbation policy.

I wish Antifa wouldn’t engage in violence and vandalism. That will not create real change and only give stupid Republicans a false narrative to help deflect from racist organizations, the base of their support. Republicans are afraid to criticize racist.

But, why designate Antifa as a terrorist organization? Wouldn’t they have to be an organization first? Has Antifa actually killed anyone? Donald Trump supporters have killed more people than Antifa. Can we designate MAGAts as a terrorist organization?

Yesterday in Portland, 13 arrests were made and the mayor described it as “largely peaceful.” So much for that terrorist narrative. The majority of domestic terrorist attacks are committed by white racists, yet you don’t hear Republicans talking about any designations for them, if they even talk about them. Designating Antifa as a terrorist organization is a fascist move. It’s legally designating protest and dissent against Donald Trump as terror.

Personally, I’m more concerned about the movement that guns down people in churches, synagogues, mosques, schools, theaters, festivals, and retail stores than I am about the group that’s going to make it a bit more difficult for me to get my frozen mocha. And, I am intense about frozen mochas.

I am against fascism and I should be able to say that without the qualifier “but I’m against violence.” I draw cartoons opposing fascism. Does this make me the Resistance or Antifa? I will not allow fascist Republicans to designate my cartoons and free speech as a form of terrorism, but that’s where they’re trying to take us.

I will not fit into your narrative. When you scream against Antifa, you’re the one who needs the qualifier. While shouting against Antifa, you need to state you’re against fascism. If you don’t, from here on I’m just going to assume you’re a fascist…just like Donald Trump.

Mein Trumpf

Love trumps hate, but Trump loves hate.

While touring a disaster area created by a tornado in Alabama, Donald Trump signed bibles. He’s never read the Bible. He wouldn’t understand the Bible. But he signed them anyway. The book Trump should be signing is Mein Kampf by Adolph Hitler.

I’m sure Trump has never read Mein Kampf or any other book in his entire life, including those he had ghostwritten for him, but he understands Mein Kampf. His entire script lifts from it. He vilifies other races, talks about banning them, and uses code words his racist followers understand, like “globalists” and “invasion.”

After Nazis and white nationalists marched through Charlottesville and killed Heather Heyer, Trump said there were good people among the racists. I bet a few of them read Mein Kampf.

While on the campaign trail, Trump said Mexico was sending us rapists and murderers. He said, “Islam hates us.” He called for a “total and complete” ban on Muslims from entering our nation. He’s used the term “invasion” to describe his phony crisis and national emergency at the border. During his veto ceremony on Friday, he used it again, the same day a white nationalist, who had used “invasion” in his manifesto, killed 49 Muslims.

Trump calls for violence and then denies he has anything to do with violence from his supporters when it happens. At his rallies, he encouraged his supporters to “knock the crap out of them,” in reference to protesters. He promised to pay their legal bills.

Trump has warned us of a violent uprising from his supporters if he’s impeached or there’s an attempt to remove him from office. The day before the shootings in New Zealand, Breitbart (a racist publication) published an interview with Trump with him saying, “I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough—until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad.” Friday morning in Christchurch, New Zealand, it got very bad.

The White House argued that we can’t connect Trump to the terrorist, though they didn’t use the word terrorist. In the terrorist’s 74-page manifesto, he wrote that he didn’t believe in Trump on policy or as a leader but he viewed him as “a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.”

Trump later refused to use the term “terrorism” in reference to the terrorist attack, which doesn’t offend his supporters who once got upset over the word not being used by members of the Obama administration about the attack in Benghazi. Trump also refused to say that white nationalism is a growing terror threat, and described it as a “small group of people.” Just like his defense of Nazis in Charlottesville, Trump extended his defense of Nazis internationally. on Friday, Trump proved he and the white terrorists share a “common purpose.”

Trump claims there’s a crisis at the border and an invasion of immigrants. He claims Muslims entering this nation are a threat to our national security. Recently, white nationalists killed 12 Jewish worshippers in Pittsburgh in 2018, six Muslims in Quebec City in 2017, nine black Christian parishioners in a Charleston, South Carolina in 2015, 77 people in Norway in 2011, and now 49 in Christchurch. In February, the FBI foiled a plot from a white nationalist, inspired by the Norway terrorist, who was planning to kill journalists and Democrats.

Trump invents emergencies and fails to recognize actual emergencies. If an immigrant from Latin America or a member of the Muslim community kills a U.S. citizen, Trump is quick to use it politically, even before he has any information (again, he doesn’t read). If a white nationalist or Nazi commits a terrorist attack, Trump will claim he doesn’t have enough information to comment, which is his excuse not to criticize a white terrorist.

Trump is afraid to call it a terrorist attack because he doesn’t want to offend his terrorist base. White supremacy is terrorism. Trump has defined himself as a nationalist without using the word “white,” but we know what he means. Flag-hugging Trump defends Nazis and white terrorists. Even if they don’t believe in his ability as a leader or to direct policy, white terrorists believe in Trump as a symbol. They know they have a friend in Trump. Trump, in return, knows he has their support. As Florida’s Andrew Gillum said of his gubernatorial opponent, “he may not be a racist, but the racist believes he’s a racist.” I’m not as delicate as Gillum and will say, Donald Trump is a racist.

White supremacy and white nationalism is terrorism. At what point are we going to acknowledge that Donald Trump is a terrorist?

Focus On Hate And Fear

Donald Trump is hoping his racist ad accusing Democrats of allowing a Mexican to murder two cops will distract voters from the fact that a Republican president incited a white supremacist to murder eleven American Jews.

Trump’s main concern with the synagogue murders and the mailing of pipe bombs by a lunatic in a van covered with pro-Trump stickers is that it hurt Republicans’ “momentum” going into the election. In an attempt to recover, Trump has returned to lying, fear mongering, and tearing at racial divides with demagoguery.

A web video produced for the Trump campaign features Luis Bracamontes, a Mexican man who had previously been deported but returned to the United States and was convicted in February in the slaying of two California deputies. The video blames Democrats for allowing him into the country to murder. The video shows a grinning Bracamontes saying, “I’m going to kill more cops soon,” and a caption flashes on the screen reading, “Democrats let him into our country. Democrats let him stay.”

Since this a product of the Trump campaign, it’s a lie. Bracamontes came into the country during the George W. Bush administration.

The ad recalls the racist Willie Horton ad supporters of George H.W. Bush ran in 1988 that was devastating to the Michael Dukakis campaign. The ad showed a nasty stereotype of a dangerous black criminal, the likes of which a President Dukakis would allow to rape your wife, daughter, and probably clog your toilet. It was so racist that most Republicans said, “what’s so racist about it?”

The Bush campaign attempted to distance itself from the ad. In contrast, the racist web video about scary Mexicans was produced by the Trump campaign. It makes you pine for the days of yesteryear when Republicans at least pretended they weren’t racist troglodytes like Steve King.

Iowa Representative King is a white supremacist who gets real testy and will blow his lid when confronted with questions about it. On Thursday, King kicked out a constituent and college student who dared to ask him how his views on immigrants are different from the Pittsburgh synagogue shooter (Spoiler: They’re not). He kicked the student out of the room after accusing him of being an “ambusher.”

King is so racist that the racist GOP rebuked him this week. Land O’ Lakes and Intel have both said they’ll no longer support him financially. You don’t want him using your butter when he’s buttering up to Nazis.

King visited a far-right party with ties to Nazis during a trip to Austria. In the past, he’s retweeted Nazis. He once attacked immigrants by saying, “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.”

Last month, King endorsed a Toronto mayoral candidate who appeared on a neo-Nazi podcast around the Charlottesville rally and later publicly recited the world’s most popular white supremacist slogan that I had just had to look up. The slogan is, “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.” I counted and, yep. Fourteen words.

Steve King and Donald Trump are nationalists. They’re also white nationalists. They bolster themselves by striking fear into their base by lying about minorities. The America white nationalists desire is not the future most of us want for our children. We want a future that is better for all our children. King and Trump only care about the future of white children.

As for the short-term future, you can expect more lies, hatred, and racism over the next few days before Tuesday. Don’t stand downwind.

Terrorist Rhetoric

I’m not saying that if you’re a conservative who is in favor of strong and strict immigration policies, then you’re on the same side as a terrorist or the equivalent. But, if you’re using the issue of immigration to malign people and you use the same talking points and lies that inspired a terrorist to kill eleven people, then you’re speaking the same language. You’re talking the talk. What concerns me is if you’re going to start walking it.

The first argument Donald Trump made after the massacre at a synagogue in Pittsburgh was that more guns will decrease gun violence. His second argument was that the shooter was not a fan of his.

It’s true. The shooter responsible for the killings at a Pittsburgh synagogue wasn’t a Trump fan, but he was a fan of the Trump agenda. His problem with Trump is that he didn’t believe he is really a nationalist, and he didn’t hate enough.

Despite having a Jewish son-in-law and a daughter who converted, Trump is not a friend to Jewish people or any minorities for that matter. The only minority he likes is the one percent of this nation that has the most wealth. While he talks a big game and moves our Israeli embassy to Jerusalem, he defends Nazis who chant “blood and soil” and “Jews will not replace us.”

While calling himself a nationalist, Trump complains about globalists. The Pittsburgh shooter calls himself a nationalist and complains about globalists. When people like that say “globalists,” they’re talking about Jews.

Trump has spent the past few weeks trying to scare Americans about an invasion of immigrants who are walking toward our southern border. The shooter has taken up his mantle and has also complained about this “invasion” on social media posts. The shooter has blamed Jews for funding the caravan where Trump has blamed one Jew.

The shooter wrote in another post that Trump was too soft on the “kike infestation.” He also wrote that Jews and immigrants will prevent Trump from making America great again. He may not have believed in the man, but he believed the message. He repeated it often enough. He used it Saturday as the basis for his attack.

White supremacist Andrew Anglin said that when Trump refused to condemn people like him after Charlottesville, he said, “We interpret that as an endorsement.” According to the Anti-Defamation League, the incidence of anti-Semitic hate crimes jumped nearly 60 percent in 2017, which is the largest spike since they started keeping track in 1979.

Trump may not have ordered Nazis to run people over, or white supremacists to mail pipe bombs or to shoot up synagogues, but he has set the tone.

Trump condemns the atmosphere of hate while continuing to hate. He talks about all sides having a civil tone, and in the same breath, he blames the media for violence. The media are at fault for doing their job. The most hateful rhetoric the media has published over the past three years is when it has quoted Donald Trump.

Jewish leaders in Pittsburgh know this, and they don’t want Trump to visit their city. In a letter signed by over 16,000 people discouraging Trump from visiting, they wrote “For the past three years your words and your policies have emboldened a growing white nationalist movement. You yourself called the murderer evil, but yesterday’s violence is the direct culmination of your influence.”

When you go online and echo Trump’s lies about the media or the migrant caravan, you’re repeating the argument of a white supremacist who killed eleven people in a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday. Just like the pipe bomber, this shooter isn’t one of you as much as he is you.

The shooter may not have had all the Trump stickers, but he had the rhetoric. If you’re a Kool-Aid drinking Trump sycophant, you have it too.

Before we can remove all this hate and start to heal, we have to remove the source. We have to remove Donald Trump from the presidency. We need a president who doesn’t embolden Nazis and white supremacists.

The Very Famous WHITE WHITE House

This week, congress sent a resolution condemning neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the violence in Charlottesville. It was negotiated on a bipartisan basis by the delegation from Virginia, my state. It passed unanimously in the House and Senate. Donald Trump has signed it. Roy Wood Jr. of The Daily Show said, “Donald Trump is the only white dude I know who had to sign paperwork to prove that he don’t like Nazis. ‘Nazis aren’t my friends…yeah, we’re gonna need that in writing.'”

I just hope Trump doesn’t use this as an excuse to display more racist behavior, like every white guy believing having a black friend allows him to sing the N-word each time it comes up in Cee Lo Green’s song, Fuck You. “Oops. She’s a gold digger. Just thought you should know….” Yeah, don’t do that.

I know a fellow cartoonist who feels the need to tell everyone he’s not a racist, and he constantly gives out examples to prove he’s not one. I know a lot of people who don’t have to do that, probably because they’re not racist. Donald Trump has to do that.

This week, the White House is screaming for ESPN to fire Jemele Hill for tweeting out that Trump is a white supremacist. This is probably the first time the White House has demanded a personality from a television network be fired. Even the Obama White House didn’t ask NBC to fire that reality show dude who claimed he wasn’t born in this country in addition to being a racist. Who was that guy again? Oh yeah. Donald Trump.

Because, screaming for a network to fire a black person isn’t enough for one week, Trump doubled down on equating anti-fascists with Nazis. But, it’s OK. He now has paperwork saying he condemns Nazis…even though he thinks there were good people marching with them in Charlottesville chanting “blood and soil” and “Jews will not replace us.”

He also claimed he couldn’t condemn Nazis immediately after Charlottesville because he “needed to know all the facts.” But today, facts be damned. Trump tweeted about the latest attack in London, and probably gave out intelligence encouraging the terrorists to attack again, kill people, and hurry before the British catch them.

Trump has trouble hiding his racism because he is a racist. He has called Mexicans “rapists and murderers.” He said a judge can’t judge his sham-university case because the judge is Mexican. He’s trying to kick brown children out of this nation. And, let’s not forget his travel ban on Muslims.

So, while Congress has forced Trump to sign a piece of paper stating that he’s not a friend to Nazis, they haven’t taken away his wolf whistle.

The White House wants people fired who call the president a racist. Well, I’m calling him a racist. Donald Trump, you’re a racist. I have no doubt. Your supporters are enablers for whom racism is not a deal breaker. Though, most of them are racists too.

I assure you of this, no racist fucks are going to stop me from drawing more cartoons.

Our Racist President

Even though it’s been a while since we’ve had “normal,” yesterday was still a day when you were in disbelief at what you were seeing.

What we saw was the president of the United States display rampant racism and threw shade and cover for White Supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan, and Neo-Nazis.

Saturday, the president blamed both sides for the violence in Charlottesville. After heated criticism, he returned two days later on Monday to condemn the racists, so we could all make believe our president wasn’t a racist. It didn’t sit well with him. It seemed forced under pressure. On Tuesday, the president proved that to be true and revealed his true feelings on the matter of race.

It’s often been said that when people show you who they are, believe them. Donald Trump showed us who he truly is and it’s not pretty. Before making comments on Monday criticizing racists, Trump attacked a black CEO for leaving his manufacturing council. After condemning racists, Trump retweeted tweets from a racist conspiracy theorist and floated the idea of pardoning the most racist sheriff in the nation, Joe Arpaio of Arizona who was convicted for incarcerating brown people on the suspicion they may be in the nation illegally. Apparently, none of that was good enough for Trump to reaffirm his racist base that he had their back.

Trump was in the lobby of his golden tower in New York City and was supposed to make comments on infrastructure when he took questions from the press, which was a surprise to everyone, including his staff.

First, he said he didn’t condemn Nazis on Saturday because he needed all the facts. The man who waged the birther campaign, claimed he saw thousands of Muslims in New Jersey celebrate 9/11, claims millions voted illegally, that he had the largest electoral victory and inauguration crowd ever, and that Barack Obama wiretapped him, needed all the facts.

This is a man who reacted swiftly to the Pulse nightclub shooting to use it as an argument for a ban on Muslim refugees, despite the fact the shooter was born in the United States. Trump has tweeted after terrorist attacks in the past way before he had “facts.”

What information did he need on Saturday before he could condemn the KKK and Nazis? Did he need a briefing that Nazis are bad?

Trump defended the racist protesters in that they were fighting against Confederate statues being removed. First, these protests aren’t really about the statues. They are an excuse for racists to march. He said, “Not all of those people were Neo-Nazis, believe me. Not all of those people were white supremacists by any stretch.” First, if anyone ever tells you “believe me, that check won’t bounce” while giving you a check, that check’s going bouncing.

He claimed there were good people among the White Supremacists. You can have the viewpoint that those statues should remain in place, but if you’re marching with people screaming “blood and soil” and “Jews will not replace us,” you’re NOT a good person. You’re an asshole. What the hell does the statues have to do with Jews anyway?

I saw a political cartoon from a racist conservative arguing for the statues and it stated, “those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.” Hey, good point. On that note, the racist cartoonist should learn some history about those statues and the fact most of them were erected during the Jim Crow era in the early 1900s and during the Civil Rights era of the 1950s and 60s. The KKK is marching so it seems we are doomed to repeat history. The Nazis have also returned and if we’re to repeat history there, they lose.

Trump went on to criticize both sides for the violence in Charlottesville, and blamed the “alt-left.” I haven’t heard anything that stupid since yesterday when a stupid conservative friend of mine on Facebook posted a Ben Shapiro column referring to some protesters as “black nationalists.” If being stupid is painful, that would explain why these guys are so angry.

You’re going to hear the term “alt-left” much more in the future, much like you’re hearing the term “snowflakes” now. It’s a term Sean Hannity loves, which is where Trump most likely got it from.

A note on this “alt-left” horseshit: The Alt-Right coined the term “alt-right.” They also created “alt-left.” Liberals are not calling themselves that because it doesn’t mean anything. To me, “alt-left” describes liberals who love Nirvana and Pearl Jam. It doesn’t exist, like “fake news.”

Trump claimed the “alt-left” was “very violent.” Trump accused people he called the “alt-left” of “swinging clubs” as they “came charging at, as you say, at the alt-right.” He said some of the right-wing members of the crowd in the Virginia park were “bad.” But he added that the other side came “charging in without a permit and they were very, very violent.” Trump must have missed the video where the racists were trying to kill African-Americans in a parking garage, or the fact that a Nazi drove a car into a crowd and killed a young woman, Heather Heyer.

Trump went on to ask “what’s next” regarding to removing statues. He asked if George Washington and Thomas Jefferson statues will be removed since they were slave owners. The man doesn’t understand history or why the Confederate statues are offensive.

Washington and Jefferson did not commit treason and fight against the United States. The Confederacy did and fought to preserve slavery. Again, most of those statues were erected to intimidate African-Americans and to let them know who was still in charge. They were placed to defy Civil Rights.

A documentary from HBO’s Vice News Tonight titled “Charlottesville: Race and Terror,” follows Christopher Cantwell, an unabashed white supremacist who spews racist invective while traveling around with a band of neo-Nazis. In the footage, Cantwell says there will be more rallies and protests and states, “We’re not non-violent, we’ll fucking kill these people if we have to.” About Heather Heyer’s death, he said “I’d say it was worth it. The fact that nobody on our side died, I’d go ahead and call that points for us.” He also says he expects more people to die in the future.

Why do Cantwell and his fellow racists feel so confident? Why do they feel so good about it? Because of Donald Trump. David Duke thanked Trump for his support on Tuesday. They got the message and they’re interpreting it as “make America great again.”

That’s what they’re doing to because they brought it to Charlottesville. A beautiful and wonderful place, Charlottesville is not home to this mess. Charlottesville should be known for UVA, The Center for Politics, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and The Dave Matthews Band. It’s not home to Nazis.

A lot of people accuse Republicans of being racist. George W. Bush and Mitt Romney were hit with that accusation. They may not have cared that much about minorities, but they were not racists. Most Republicans are not either. But, a lot of Republicans don’t find racism a deal breaker as they voted for Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is a racist, and those who continue to support him, or deflect and throw cover for Nazis (“but Obama and statues”) are too. Republicans like Jeff Flake and Marco Rubio lambasted him yesterday. More Republicans need to realize this is not a partisan issue. You can be a Republican and find the thought of lying with Nazis disgusting. Donald Trump does not.

Donald Trump showed us who he is and we need to believe him. It’s time for you to show us who you are. When your friends, family, and neighbors defend Trump they’re showing you who they are.

You better believe them.

White Nationalist Rally

I can assure you that the images you’re seeing today are not Charlottesville. Most of this hatred is imported. David Duke has flown in to support the hate groups and stated, “We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That’s what we believed in.” He said, “we’re taking our country back.”

“Take our country” back is a slogan white people repeated throughout the Obama era. We know what that means. We also know that the White Nationalists in Charlottesville have been encouraged by Donald Trump.

Trump tweeted out that what’s happening in Charlottesville is “sad.” I’m surprised he didn’t post a frownie face imoji. Trump later condemned the hate and violence of “many sides.” He didn’t call out the White Nationalists, which is what this entire protest was about. They started the protest. This entire thing was initiated by racists screaming about white rights and Donald Trump didn’t call them out.

Trump calls out Hispanic groups by name. He calls out black groups. When white racists do bad things his response is “they all do bad things and they should stop. Sad!” Republicans got upset that President Obama wouldn’t use the specific words “radical Islamic terrorism.” I’m sure they’re OK that Donald Trump can’t call out his base of White Nationalists.

At this time, there is one dead and 19 injured in Charlottesville, and Trump is partly to blame. It will get worse tonight.

Donald Trump ran on a campaign of hate. He started his campaign by calling Mexicans “rapists and murderers.” He has staffed his White House with the racists Breitbart faction Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, and Sebastian Gorka.

When Trump unveiled his initiative to restrict “legal” immigration to white-English speakers, he had Miller explain the policy because racists would love that. Trump has fought hard to ban refugees from Muslim nations entering our country.

Donald Trump is a racist, and he’s afraid of angering his racist base. If anything, he’s cultivated it.
