Paul Pelosi

Pelosi’s Attacker

Warning to Republicans who are upset over this cartoon: I’m probably going to give you another tomorrow.

The reason I’m giving that warning is that it’s Republicans who are upset over this attack being reported. The reason they’re upset is that they’re responsible. I’m not going to shy away from this.

We don’t know all the details, but an attacker broke into the San Francisco home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, while she was in Washington, DC, and attacked her husband, Paul Pelosi. He called 911 from the bathroom and the police arrived so quickly that they were able to witness the attack.

The police witnessed 82-year-old Paul Pelosi and his attacker, 42-year-old David DePape (yes, I’m going to say his name) wrestling over a hammer, which DePape gained control of and fractured Paul Pelosi’s skull. Pelosi went through a successful surgery and also had serious injuries to his hand and arm.

According to reports, DePape was shouting, “Where is Nancy?” This was also shouted by white nationalist terrorists on January 6, 2021, as they stormed through the capitol building.

DePape is a big fan of Qanon conspiracies and this is at least the second time someone has tried to murder people because of Qanon. Do you remember Pizzagate?

Last year, DePape posted links on his Facebook page to multiple videos by MyPillow fucker Mike Lindell spreading The Big Lie, that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. DePape also posted transphobic images and links to websites claiming Covid vaccines were deadly. One post read, “The death rates being promoted are what ever ‘THEY’ want to be promoted as the death rate.”

DePape also posted links to YouTube videos with titles like “Democrat FARCE Commission to Investigate January 6th Capitol Riot COLLAPSES in Congress!!!” and “Global Elites Plan To Take Control Of YOUR Money! (Revealed)” “Global elites” is a dog whistle for “Jews.”

Two days after former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin was convicted for killing George Floyd, DePape posted that the trial was a “modern lynching” and falsely claimed Floyd had died from a drug overdose.

He also wrote about the “Great Reset,” another Qanon conspiracy theory that the “elites” are using Covid to suppress the masses and gain more power to control us.

There are also blog posts hosted on WordPress (where this blog is also hosted) by someone with the username “daviddepape” that are similar to his Facebook posts, except many of these contain images of Nancy Pelosi, who the right has been demonizing since at least the George W. Bush administration.

There are images of Pelosi during one of Trump’s impeachment hearings, there are images of her with her gavel, there are screeds of antisemitism, references to “Hitlery,” videos accusing LGBTQ people of “grooming” children, claims that colleges are cults, and a statement that any journalists who deny Trump won and that there was massive election fraud in the 2020 election “should be dragged straight out into the street and shot.”

Everyone who spread these lies is responsible for the poison in DePape’s head and the assault he committed on Paul Pelosi.

Today, a lot of Republicans are expressing condolences and shock that someone would attack Paul Pelosi, but no expressions of responsibility. And many MAGAts and Qanon fucks are claiming it’s a false flag.

After someone broke into the campaign headquarters this week of Arizona Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs, her Republican opponent said it sounded like “Jussie Smollett part two,” implying the break-in was staged by the Democratic Party. Instead of expressing any concern or making a statement condemning political violence, Lake had to go with a vile lie, probably because she’s a vile reprehensible person.

She’s not the only one. Other vile reprehensible MAGAts are claiming the attack on Paul Pelosi is a false flag. Some are saying it was a lover’s quarrel between Pelosi and his attacker. If you check on Twitter and Truth Social, it gets even more disgusting.

One white nationalist political cartoonist said the attacker had a “spark of divinity,” which is a reference to a statement Nancy Pelosi made in 2018 during a prayer breakfast when she said, “And so when the president of the United States says about undocumented immigrants, ‘These aren’t people. These are animals,’ you have to wonder, does he not believe in the spark of divinity, the dignity, and worth of every person? ‘These are not people. These are animals.’ The president of the United States.”

Republicans are disgusting. They pushed lies about the pandemic, the virus, the vaccine, the election, and immigration, in addition to spreading antisemitism and then they refuse to accept responsibility. This is not the first time people have been hurt by hate pushed by the GOP.

And it won’t be the last.
