Concentration Camps

The Captors’ Resumes

cjones08072019

Trump’s pick to be the new director of national intelligence, John Ratcliffe, has multiple embellishments on his resumé.

He claims on his website and in campaign material that he tried suspects accused of funneling money to Hamas. As it turns out, that’s not true. He never prosecuted a case in the matter.

He was an interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Texas during George W. Bush’s administration. He was basically a placeholder in the position. But, Ratcliffe claims he oversaw terrorism cases, plural. The only example of any significant cases that concern national security is one trial where he prosecuted an Iraq War veteran who pleaded guilty to possessing a pipe bomb.

Ratcliffe also claims that during his time at U.S. attorney that he “arrested” over 300 illegal aliens in a single day that were illegally employed by chicken processing plants in five states. His House website makes the same claim. He did help bring charges against 280 noncitizens on identity fraud charges and other crimes to secure employment, but he didn’t arrest anyone. Even Matlock has more arrests than Ratcliffe because he was Sheriff of Mayberry first.

He also claimed on his 2016 campaign website and in a bio on his House website that he “put terrorists in prison.” This was the case involving a Muslim charity sending money to Hamas. Three former government lawyers and a former senior FBI official, when asked about John Ratcliffe’s involvement, said, “who?” They said he didn’t contribute any substance to the case. Plus, there were no convictions against the charity. One attorney said the mistrial hit the Justice Department like a “two-by-four in the middle of the forehead.” This is what Ratcliffe is basing his claim of putting “terrorists in prison.”

Also, it turns out he was never a member of the Backstreet Boys and didn’t co-write “I Want It That Way.”

The director of intelligence should have actual experience with national intelligence. The man Ratcliffe is replacing, Dan Coats, did not have to pad his resume. Coats predecessor, James Clapper, served as undersecretary of defense for intelligence, director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (ask Ratcliffe or Trump what that is), and as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. He was unanimously confirmed by the Senate. Later, Trump revoked Clapper’s security clearance because he said negative things about Trump. Ratcliffe, on the hand, has skeptics in his own party. He’s less of an actual analyst of intelligence and more of a Trump cultist.

Donald Trump also likes to boastéé about accomplishments he’s never accomplished. At one of his campaign stops, he displayed Trump steaks that were NOT Trump steaks and were actually purchased at a local butcher shop. Trump also did NOT help at the site of the World Trade Center, as he claimed earlier this week. In reality, after the WTC fell down from the attack by al Qaida, he boasted about how he now had the tallest building in New York City. And, just in case you’re a Trump revisionist, he didn’t “create” this economy. Like most things he has, Trump inherited a great economy. Unlike the fortune he claims he built but was inherited from his father, he inherited the economy from Barack Obama.

And, when Trump is throwing children into cages, he’s not locking up MS-13 gang members. In 2018, Trump said unaccompanied minors “look so innocent but aren’t in reality.” His acting commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, Mark Morgan, once told Fox News that he can tell which unaccompanied minors will become gang members by looking into their eyes. He told Tucker Carlson, “I’ve looked into their eyes and said, ‘that is a soon-to-be MS-13 gang member.'” Apparently, Mark Morgan got the job after Miss Cleo turned it down.

While MS-13 is horrible and violent and everything you should hate, they’re not invading the country or posing as fake families. MS-13 was created in the United States and it recruits within the U.S. They don’t import. They’re not even that large of an organization. According to the Justice Department, the gang only accounts for 10,000 of the 1.4 million gang members nationwide. They’re not growing as they had the same number of members a decade ago. They average about 35 murders a year nationwide, which is fewer than murders committed by gangs you never heard of, and possibly fewer than those committed by Trump supporters. If Trump wants to focus on gang activity, he should direct his agencies to combat all of it, not just focus on the one that’s meat for his racist base.

When you think about it, when someone kills minorities in this nation while echoing Trump’s racist rhetoric, that makes Trump a recruiter of terrorists. Donald Trump is more dangerous to American communities than MS-13.

Ratcliffe has never arrested a terrorist in his life. Neither has Donald Trump. Instead, Trump is throwing kids in cages.

Weaseling Before Jesus

cjones06292019

The TV show South Park was developed from an animated Christmas card Trey Parker and Matt Stone were paid $1,000 to create for a TV executive to give to his friends in 1995. Titled Jesus vs. Santa, the short provides one token of wisdom we should all carry through life; don’t say “pigfucker” in front of Jesus.

Since you shouldn’t say “pigfucker” in front of Jesus, then you probably shouldn’t be one either. Additionally, I think we can all agree that one shouldn’t be a shitweasel in front of Jesus. If you dedicate your life to the teachings of Jesus Christ and characterize yourself as one of his followers, don’t be a shitweasel. Mike Pence is a shitweasel.

During his interview with Jake Tapper last Sunday, Christian Mike Pence shitsweaseled all over the place.

When South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg questioned how Pence could be a Christian while also serving as vice-president to the “porn star” president, Pence indignantly cried about his religion being attacked. I’m not attacking Pence’s religion. I’m attacking Mike Pence and his hypocrisy. I’m also attacking the hypocrisy of the 81% of Evangelical Christians that Pew Research Center claim voted for the Trump/Pence ticket. You’re all a bunch of shitweasels.

I am not a Christian or religious in any way, but I do know something about it. I was dragged to church every Sunday that my mother didn’t sleep in, procrastinate or forget. I lived with my aunt and uncle and their two daughters for six months while in the fifth grade, and they dragged me to church every Sunday in the morning and evening, every Wednesday, every day during revival week, and even Halloween. I had to go to church during Hallofreakingween. I didn’t even know there was Jesus candy. I also attended a private Baptist school for a year in high school. It was brutal. But, I believe all those years of religious trauma has given me at least enough knowledge to know that Christians are not supposed to lie. Do you know what the Bible says about lying? It’s against it. Mike Pence, a man so religious that he refuses to be alone with a woman who is not his wife, is a liar.

During his interview with Tapper, he claimed, “America has the cleanest air and water in the world.” That’s a lie. While the U.S. is tied with nine nations for cleanest water, we come in tenth for clean air.

Pence claimed that Trump said he’d call the FBI if he was offered dirt on political opponents. Another lie.

Pence claimed that six million jobs have been added during the Trump administration. Another lie. They’re sponging numbers from the Obama administration.

Pence claimed Trump has rebuilt the military. Can someone please tell me how? Do we have more tanks, ships, jets, rockets, hats? They’ve increased funding for the military but how has it been rebuilt in two years? Trump once claimed he’s rebuilt our nuclear arsenal when in fact, nothing has been changed regarding it. Liars.

Pence claimed that 90 percent of asylum seekers do not show up for their court hearings. Liar! Liar! Liar! This one is huge. It’s amazing he can keep that flaccid-Trump-adoring-while-have-a-bowel movement expression on his face while telling that lie. Pence must be on some serious medication. The truth is, 90 percent of asylum seekers show up for their court dates. There is a huge difference between TEN and NINETY (if you’re a Republican, it’s 80 percent of a difference). This one isn’t even a quibble or an exaggeration. It’s a fucking lie.

When asked about climate change, Pence said he’d go with the science. When Tapper pointed out that scientists from the Trump administration believe climate change is a threat, Pence refused to admit it was. When pressed several times, Pence still refused to say climate change was a threat. This is what a shitweasel does.

When asked about the conditions for children in detention centers, Pence was unable to defend the lawyers who argued that children don’t need toothbrushes or toothpaste, and instead blamed Democrats. He argued how Democrats weren’t funding more beds for the centers instead of answering why they’re the ones throwing children into these centers. It’s like building torture chambers then blaming someone else for not funding more beds for your torture chambers. Pigfuckers, stop throwing kids into torture chambers!

When asked why the administration wasn’t providing fundamentals to these children they’ve thrown into these torture chambers, Pence laughed. God-fearing Christian Mike Pence laughed when asked about children his administration has imprisoned. He went on to blame Congress, the Mexican government, and traffickers but refused to admit that they can provide blankets and toothbrushes. He accepts no responsibility for the administration’s policy of separating families and throwing babies into cages.

Instead of being an honest man, an honest Christian, Pence dodged and squirmed during the interview. It’s because he’s a shitweasel.

Taylor University is an Evangelical college in Pence’s Indiana. Last spring, Pence gave the commencement address. The Evangelical students got over 10,000 signatures on a petition or protest against Pence. It read, “Inviting Vice President Pence to Taylor University and giving him a coveted platform for his political views makes our alumni, faculty, staff and current students complicit in the Trump-Pence Administration’s policies, which we believe are not consistent with the Christian ethic of love we hold dear.” The students at Taylor know a shitweasel when they see one.

Mike Pence is a Christian but he doesn’t adhere to the faith. Nobody can while supporting lies and throwing children into concentration camps. Nobody can claim they walk with Jesus while supporting Donald Trump.

What would Jesus do?

What would Mike Pence do? Mike Pence would torture babies, like about it, and blame someone else. That’s because Mike Pence is a shitweasel.

And, he’s probably a pigfucker too.

No Soap For you

cjones06262019

The accusation that detention centers holding migrant children are concentration camps doesn’t necessarily mean they’re being compared to Nazi death camps. But, there are definitely some soap Nazis among Customs and Border Protection.

In fact, this week, the Trump administration went to court to argue that migrant children detained at the U.S.-Mexico border do not require basic hygiene products like soap and toothbrushes in order to be held in “safe and sanitary” conditions. Hell, they even argued that forcing minors to sleep on cold concrete floors in crowded cells, CELLS, with low temperatures also fulfilled the “safe and sanitary” requirement.

News broke this week that there are not enough diapers for the babies currently held by the Trump administration (which would make sense if the big orange baby requires them all). Also, children are being forced to care for toddlers. There are toddlers sitting around in urine-soaked onesies. There is a lack of toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap. Showers and baths are extremely rare for the children detained by Donald Trump.

In addition to all that, the government is doing all it can to prevent the public from discovering what it’s like inside these detention centers. The press and even elected representatives have been barred from entering many of the facilities.

But, we’re not supposed to call them “concentration camps.” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the GOP’s current favorite punching bag because she’s liberal, young, smarter than them, female, brown and from New York City, is catching a lot of heat for describing the detention centers as “concentration camps.” She’s not backing down. She shouldn’t.

Not all concentration camps were death camps. During World War II, the term “Internment” was used for the camps holding American citizens of Japanese descent, but they were concentration camps.

Many of Trump’s defenders argue that these detention centers don’t meet the requirement for the tag of “concentration.” They argue that most concentration camps are under dictatorships, meanwhile, Trump threatened to jail a reporter yesterday for taking a picture.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines “concentration camp” as “a camp where persons are confined, usually without hearings and typically under harsh conditions, often as a result of their membership in a group the government has identified as dangerous or undesirable.”

If that description doesn’t fit these centers, then I don’t know what does.

The fact is, they are concentration camps. The problem is, most Americans don’t want to live in a country that allows them, so they will never admit they exist. Problem. The United States of America under Donald Trump has concentration camps and they’re full of babies.

For what it’s worth, the Nazis never told their citizens about their concentration camps either. They just handed them the soap.

Update: The rough. This was the original idea, which I came up with a few days ago. It was included with all the other roughs for this week’s CNN cartoon. After the story came out about the conditions at the centers, I gave up on it and went with the above idea. I like the new one much better.
