Cop City

The people who attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021, are terrorists. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar. Let’s start with Tucker Carlson.

Tucker Carlson said the violence on January 6 will be a “footnote” in American history. He’s blamed the FBI for instigating the attack. He claims the Capitol Police allowed the terrorist into the building. He’s downplayed the role of white supremacists in the attack because he is one himself. He claims Ashli Babbit, the terrorist who was shot while forcing her way further into the Capitol, “posed no conceivable threat to anyone.” He claimed that “not a single person in the crowd that day was found to be carrying a firearm” despite court records showing that to be a lie. And he says the attack was NOT an insurrection.

Tucker had different thoughts after a peaceful protest in Atlanta BRIEFLY turned violent.

Marchers gathered to protest the killing of an activist by cops on Wednesday during a raid to clear the construction site of a police training facility that activists have nicknamed “Cop City”. Cops shot and killed activist Manuel Teran, a 26-year-old who they claim shot and wounded a state trooper. The protesters don’t believe the cops.

Would cops lie? During the protests throughout the nation after the murder of George Floyd by cops, entire police departments lied.

During a protest in Buffalo, cops shoved a 75-year-old man to the ground, sustaining a brain injury. The cops kept walking by with none of them helping the elderly man. The Buffalo Police Department issued a statement that the man had tripped. The only problem with that explanation is that 70 million people viewed the footage of the police shoving the man to the ground. Naturally, a grand jury refused to charge any police officers.

After CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez was arrested while covering protests in Minneapolis, the police department issued a statement saying, “In the course of clearing the streets and restoring order at Lake Street and Snelling Avenue, four people were arrested by State Patrol troopers, including three members of a CNN crew. The three were released once they were confirmed to be members of the media.” I guess the cops don’t want CNN because the arrest was live on the air and viewers saw Jimenez holding his CNN badge while reporting, identifying himself as a reporter, and telling the officers the crew would move wherever officers needed them to. Jimenez was handcuffed live on TV.

It’s not just that a cop or a few cops lied. The official statements from the police departments lied. They lied boldly. They lied hoping the public would believe their statements and not their own eyes. This gives the impression that lying is a part of cop culture.

The violence in Atlanta was brief. A police car was set on fire and protesters smashed windows of buildings. Six people, all white, were arrested.

Tucker said, “Antifa is the armed instrument of the permanent Democratic establishment in Washington. Their job is to mobilize when politically necessary. Political militia are a common feature in third-world politics. In our country, only one party has them.”

If Antifa (if this is Antifa) is the armed instrument of the Democratic establishment as Tucker claims, then what are the Proud Boys? What are the Oathkeepers? What are the Three Percenters? What’s Qanon? Each of these groups was represented during the terrorist attack on the Capitol.

The Democratic Party does NOT sanction or condone Antifa. Donald Trump told his terrorists to come to Washington on January 6 and promised that “it would be wild.” He tweeted to the terrorists that they are “very special” and that he “loved” them.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who now sits on the Homeland Security Committee, which is to protect our nation from terrorists, said “we would have won” if she was in charge of the terrorist attack on January 6. She described the incident in Atlanta as an “insurrection” committed by Antifa and Black Lives Matter. That doesn’t even make sense. She then went on Tucker’s show and announced that she’s introducing legislation (destined to fail) that would classify Antifa as a terrorist organization. Don’t forget, MTG is a proud member of Qanon, a terrorist organization that sent a goon to shoot up a pizza parlor (and not because they put pineapple on pizza), and has pushed their conspiracy theories.

Kevin McCarthy, who put a terrorist on the Homeland Security Committee, initially blamed Donald Trump for the attack on January 6, but couldn’t backtrack and crawl up his own ass fast enough after seeing that didn’t sell with his party. He quickly made a run to Mar-a-Lago to kiss Trump’s ass and get a photo-op with him. After the Atlanta incident, he tweeted, “We stand with cops.” Oh, you do, do you?

Over 100 Capitol Police officers were injured by Trump’s white nationalist terrorists on January 6, with five of them dying afterward. Congress awarded every officer who responded to the insurrection with the Congressional Gold medal with 21 House Republicans voting NO. Marjorie Taylor Greene was one of those no votes, but she wants to cry for cops in Atlanta.

During the award ceremony, the mother of fallen officer Brian Sicknick refused to shake the hands of Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell saying, “They’re just two-faced. I’m just tired of them standing there and saying how wonderful the Capitol police is, and they turn around and … go down to Mar-a-Lago and kiss Trump’s ring.” I wouldn’t have said that. I would have said “ass.”

Sicknick’s brother said, “They have no idea what integrity is. They can’t stand up for what’s right and wrong.” McConnell criticized and blamed Trump for the insurrection but refused to vote to convict after the Senate impeachment trial. This is called cowardice.

But now the goons want to tell us they “stand with cops” after supporting the terrorists who attacked cops. They want to cry about a burning police car and a few smashed windows and howl about Antifa after they supported white nationalist groups like Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Three Percenters, and Qanon after they attacked our nation.

What’s next? Are they going to claim they’re patriots while supporting Putin? Oh, yeah. Oops.

Republicans, especially MAGA, are domestic terror threats against this nation. Putting a supporter of white nationalist terrorists on the Homeland Security Committee is almost as laughable as it is terrifying. And that person wants to classify a left-wing group as a terrorist organization.

Republicans have lost every right to pretend they’re outraged by political violence.

Six people were arrested in Atlanta. Nearly 1,000 people have been charged in the January 6 insurrection. The only thing arrested MAGA terrorists have in common with those arrested in Atlanta is that they’re all white.

Music note: I continued listening to The Wall.

Bad Day

cjones03222021

If it’s any consolation, I did stare at this cartoon for nearly a day before I decided to go with it.

Whether you criticize police or support them, you should remain consistent. You shouldn’t be tribal to the point that all cops are good until they’re attacked by white nationalist MAGA terrorists sent by Donald Trump to overturn an election.

I stand with the police who protected the U.S. Capitol while also keeping in mind, some of those cops are under investigation for cooperating with the terrorists. One cop even took a selfie with the terrorists. That’s NOT a good look. Even the cop who walked into the Senate chamber filled with MAGA terrorists asked them politely not to be there.

Another look that’s not good is sympathizing with a killer over his victims.

Usually, when you think of a “bad day,” you think of a bad hair day, or a day when you are overwhelmed by life, or when you get a speeding ticket. Maybe when you think of “bad day,” you think of the so-so song by the rock band Fuel or the even better song titled “Bad Days” by The Flaming Lips. The one thing that doesn’t come to mind when I think of “bad day” is a guy who just killed eight people in a shooting spree.

The killer went to three different Atlanta-area Asian massage parlors to kills Asians, supposedly over some sexual fetish of his he was trying to eliminate. Captain Jay Baker of the Cherokee County Sheriffs Office said the 21-year-old white male “was pretty much fed up and kind of at the end of his rope. Yesterday was a really bad day for him and this is what he did.” Later, it was discovered that this captain had Facebook posts promoting shirts with the racist statements calling the coronavirus, “IMPORTED VIRUS FROM CHY-NA.”

California Congressman Ted Lieu tweeted, “All of us have experienced bad days, but we don’t go to three Asian businesses and shoot up Asian employees.”

The problem people like me have with America’s police isn’t with a few bad apples like Captain Jay Baker. Our problem is with the system or racism within America’s police. It’s a system that tolerates these “bad apples.” In Georgia, the Cherokee County Sheriffs Office hasn’t even acknowledged Captain Baker is a racist. Maybe they should visit his Facebook page.

When Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old black child playing with a plastic toy gun in Cleveland, Ohio was killed by police, cop defenders called him a “thug.”

After 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was killed by George Zimmerman for walking while black and wearing a hoodie, white conservatives tried to describe Martin as a thug in training and were livid that a photo of the victim, taken three days before his death, made him look too young, innocent, and sweet. They circulated photos of a 32-year-old rapper they found menacing enough, and labeled that as Trayvon.

When black American George Floyd was arrested for supposedly trying to cash a counterfeit check, cops killed him by kneeling on his neck.

Believing he had a knife, cops in Kenosha paralyzed black American Jacob Blake by shooting him four times, out of seven shots, in the back, after tasering him.

After cops arrested white kid Dylan Roof, who was 17 at the time, the same age as Trayvon Martin, for murdering nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, they brought him a Whopper from Burger King.

And to a Georgia cop, a white guy shooting up multiple massage parlors and killing eight people, most of them women, and six of them Asian, is having a “bad day.” Did the cop think about the kind of day the victims had? Did the police captain want to bring the killer a Whopper? Maybe Senator Ron Johnson can bring all the white terrorists Whoppers.

The killer is racist against Asian-Americans and so is the cop who said the shooter was suffering from a “bad day.” The problem here is, his racism was public before his own bad day, and his police department didn’t do anything about it.

Hate Crime Trump

cjones03202021

In March, 2020, White House goon Kellyanne Conway was asked about White House staffers using the term “kung flu” to describe the coronavirus. Kellyanne reacted harshly.

Kellyanne responded to the reporters’ questions by saying, “Of course it’s wrong. That’s highly offensive, so you should tell us all who it is.” Reporters did not have to tell her who it was because that person revealed himself.

After Donald Trump started publicly using the term “kung flu,” Kellyanne said, “My reaction is that the president has made very clear he wants everybody to understand, and I think many Americans do understand, that the virus originated in China.” What happened to “highly offensive?” And yes, we understand perfectly well whom he was blaming.

When it was pointed out there is no place called “Kung Flu,” Kellyanne shot back “Excuse me, how do you know the way people, how do you know that people aren’t anticipating that or not connecting that? You don’t know that. While the president is saying it, he’s also saying this virus came from China. China is responsible.” Was she saying people will “anticipate” or “connect” that to China because they’re racist?

And then, lovely Kellyanne went from calling the racist term “highly offensive,” to saying it was OK when Trump added other racist terms to the list. She said, “He said it’s called many different things, it’s called the Wuhan virus, the Chinese virus, and then he used another term.”

Donald Trump is a fear-monger. The one thing better than accepting responsibility or doing a difficult task is to cast blame. For Donald Trump, it’s better casting blame in a racist manner. Was it racist to use “kung flu,” “Wuhan virus,” or “China virus”? Yes.

Racists for Trump will argue those terms are not racist since the virus came from China. But those are not the names for the virus. “Coronavirus” and “Covid-19” are the accepted names for the virus. Those are the names that doctors and scientists use. Though Kellyanne believed this coronavirus was the 19th version, not realizing it was named for the year it originated.

Since Donald Trump failed at containing and combating the virus, spread fears and lies over, and even admitted to downplaying it while hundreds of thousands died, it’s perfectly acceptable to call the coronavirus the “Trump Virus.”

After Trump occupied the White House in 2017, hate crimes increased in this nation. The Washington Post reported that in 2016, counties where Trump held his 275 hate rallies saw an increase in hate crimes by 226%.

Donald Trump was the racists’ president. HIs first campaign promise was to build a racist wall on the border with Mexico, whom he accused of sending us “rapists and murderers.” He was endorsed by the likes of Grand Wizard David Duke and Nazi Richard Spencer. While most newspapers refused to endorse Trump, he did score an endorsement from The Daily Stormer, the official newspaper of Nazis. Klansmen wanted to throw parades for him. People in Trump hotel ballrooms were sieg heiling. His campaign was managed by racist and Breitbart goon Steve Bannon (who he later pardoned). He added Bannon to his staff as well as racist Stephen Miller, whom he allowed to write racist immigration policies. He defended tiki-torch Nazis in Charlottesville, even after they murdered a civil rights activist. He said “Send them back” about American congresswomen who are non-white. He gave shout-outs to the racist group Proud Boys. He retweeted Nazis. He pardoned racists Roger Stone, Joe Arpaio, and Dinesh D’Souza. He spread the racist lie that the 2020 election was stolen because of voter fraud by non-white voters. He coordinated and instigated a racist insurrection against the United States Congress in a bloody coup attempt. And the bad thing here is, I know I left some of Trump’s racist shit out of this list.

Stop AAPI Hate is a coalition that tracks incidents of violence and harassment against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the U.S and they claim hate crimes have risen since the coronavirus landed in the United States. The group claims there have been nearly 3,800 instances of discrimination against Asians in the past year.

The rampage at three spas in the Atlanta area that left eight dead may not be connected to racism generated from the coronavirus. The only motive that’s been suggested so far is the shooter was motivated to eliminate the temptation of his sexual addiction…or something like that. What is known is the man was targeting Asians at massage parlors and he was attempting to take his rampage further south to Florida, where New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft prefers to get his Asian massages…along with a “rub and tug.” Don’t Google that.

Six of the eight victims were female Asians. The shooter was a white guy. Police don’t know if they can classify this as a hate crime, but the guy targeted multiple establishments of Asians. The white killer was going after Asians.

We may not be able to blame Donald Trump for this man’s “temptation” to kill Asians. But we can blame Donald Trump for the rise in all hate crimes, especially for those against Asians.

Donald Trump spent months blaming China for the coronavirus. He didn’t just give the OK to his racist supporters to blame China, he used racist terms which validated their hate. Their excuse is that it can’t be racist if the president (sic) said it, even if that president (sic) is a racist. His supporters didn’t blame Xi Jinping or the Chinese Communist Party for the virus. They blamed Asian Americans. They didn’t single out Chinese Americans…they went after Asian Americans.

The real irony here is these people who downplayed the virus, claimed it was no worse than the flu, refused to wear face masks, protested at state capitol buildings over shutdowns and mandates, are now refusing to be vaccinated, while physically attacking Asian Americans for “bringing” the virus.

If anything, maybe Asians should be beating us up for what we’ve done to their food. Did you know most of what you’re ordering at Chinese restaurants aren’t actually Chinese dishes? But yet, no attacks on Panda Express which is to Chinese food what Taco Bell is to Mexican.

One reason joining the Trump cult is so popular with stupid people is that you don’t have to be intelligent, have the ability to comprehend, or use logic to become a member.

It’s not just President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party who have to rebuild this nation after the Trump disaster. It’s all of us. It’s not enough to just not be racist. We need to be anti-racist. We still need to resist.

We won the White House and we control both chambers of Congress. What is there to resist? Racism. We need to resist the racism that inserted Donald Trump into the presidency. We need to resist the racism that dominates state legislatures that are trying to enact voter discrimination laws against minorities. We need to resist the racism that dominates the Republican Party.

For four years, Donald Trump instigated and enabled racists in this nation. It culminated in an attack on the United States Capitol by racist terrorists. That alone is proof that his use of racist terms to describe the coronavirus inspires racists to attack Asian Americans.

I believe we are still a racist country. We need to resist racist America. And how much do you wanna bet Kellyanne loves her some Panda Express?
