I haven’t posted any roughs this month. When I only drew two a couple weeks ago, I decided to wait and put two weeks of roughs together. Last week, I drew eight but I’m not going to show you one because I still may draw it.
Sometimes simple is good. I went to bed one night last week convinced I was going to draw this cartoon. When I woke up, I changed my mind. I couldn’t get into it.
A few of these roughs became finished and published cartoons. This is one of them. I thought it was OK and quite a few people loved it. Mostly, I like chronicling the Time Person of the Year and I knew a lot of my clients would run it. Also, I like drawing skylines. It’s so simple yet I love doing it.
It was between the Time Magazine cartoon and this one for CNN last week. I was fine with going with either idea but this was my top choice. I really like drawing bulls and cowboys.
And zombies. I really like drawing zombies. This became an official cartoon also. And the day I did it, I discovered another cartoonist had drawn something similar the day before. The funny thing is, I had this rough sitting around for four days before I drew it.
Bulls and cowboys. I didn’t do this one.
Cowboys and something icky. I almost did this cartoon but instead, just made a comment on social media about it. I did draw and publish a different Ted Cruz cartoon last week.
I thought I was going to do this one but I never did.
I did this one for CNN two weeks ago and I’m still very happy with it.
Geraldo Rivera thinks we should call the vaccine the “Trump Vaccine” to honor the guy who downplayed it, ignored it, lied about it, politicized it, waged war against people fighting it, mocked people for wearing masks, goaded his idiots to try to kidnap a governor over it, and advocated killing millions of Americans with “herd immunity.” Great, idea, Geraldo. Hey, Trump has the antibodies. Maybe you can find some while burrowing up his ass, you hack.
And that’s it for roughs this week. Do you have a favorite?
Notes on signed prints: Order now if you want to send a print of one my cartoons, signed by me, to a loved one…or even better yet, to a conservative family member who you probably don’t love anymore. They’ll never forget it. The signed prints are just $40.00 each. You can pay through PayPal. If you don’t like PayPal and want to snail mail it, email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) so we can make sure your print gets to its recipient in time. I can mail the prints directly to you or to the person you’re gifting.
Notes on my book, Tales From The Trumpster Fire: I have an order of 20 copies of my book (16 are left to purchase) on the way, which I’ll be selling for $45.00 each, signed. Unfortunately, they’re not going to arrive until AFTER Christmas. Don’t yell at me. But you can purchase now, give later, and blame the cartoonist. Tell them I had covid. Also, I have copies of my first book from 1997, Knee-Deep in Mississippi.
Tip Jar: if you want to support the cartoonist, please send a donation through PayPal to email@example.com. You can also snail it to P.O. Box 9103, Fredericksburg, VA 22403.
